Charging hourly is something that gets taught early on in school. And it works in corporate environments. But small businesses? Its the worst. Especially in the creative field.

There was a time I charged hourly for creative shoots and it would be fine for the most part. But towards the last few minutes of the shoot id feel like im just kinda wasting the clients and my time. We got the shots we wanted 30 minutes ago. And at the time my mind was like “am i not knowledgeable enough to fill up the whole hour?” But no that wasn’t the case. I was knowledgeable enough to get the job done in the amount of time it needed to take. It could take 5, 15, 30 minutes. Was the job done? Cool.

Not charging an hourly rate actually helped me take my time and become a better service provider. I wasn’t looking at the watch to see if the hours up anymore. And it was less stressful for the clients as well. by @mauballet

I am elated to disclose that Laura Escalona will be a featured runway model in the STR2026 Fashion Show: We STILL Dem People!

When I look at Laura and feel her presence, there is this type of buoyancy about her that intrigues my psyche. It’s like she maintains a certain level of power that keeps her floating. I don’t know if it’s her skill of ballet or the ability to stretch herself in ways that seem unfeasible, but this young woman is masterly! A fitness instructor as well as a ballet teacher and the representative of @enaligne , Laura is the definition of a hustler. She is highly driven and works aggressively towards triumph. Appearing on several runways such as New York Fashion Week, Tampa Bay Fashion Week and countless others, Laura gives off a strong sense of self assurance and composure. Her boldness speak volumes and I cannot wait to see her let loose for one of the most purposeful fashion shows of the year! Giving my clients a story helps with the poses and mood we are trying to set. My instructions were, "You're on vacation by yourself and seeing if anyone is brave enough to sit next to you."

She went in. The fan, the looks, and the poses really helped create that narrative. Loved movement on the fan's tassel.

Even the clouds decided to play along with this photoshoot and reflected well in the glass behind her.
