Riding motorcycles has always been my favorite thing to do. Be it my Yamaha RX100 in small towns, Impulse in the mountains, or a rented scooty across Vietnam, nothing has ever come close to the joy of riding!

Back in school, koi bolta tha pilot, koi businessman… aur main bolta tha, “Rossi banenge” 😄

Now, after vaguely organising life and health, when I finally got to ride on a track in my mid-30s, it turned out to be even more beautiful than I had imagined :)

There are very few moments in life when you’re so deeply present that there’s no yesterday or tomorrow. It’s meditative and expensive! 🫠 taken in Coimbatore by @maujbahar

I had a constant smile while organising my old hard drive :) This is Aut Tunnel, 2013.

Somewhere in Himachal, 2013. Mohit on CD Deluxe 100, Vaibhav on Enfield 350 and me on Honda CB 110. Certainly, the most underprepared and raw ride till date. We slept on the roads, under the trees, on dividers, outside closed shutters, in gurudwaras but never paid for a stay. We rode to Dehradun, Musoorie, Poanta, Solan, Shimla, Mandi, Parvati, Rohtang and back.

Spiti, 2014. Vaibhav and Varun on Enfiled 350, Mohit on CD Deluxe 100 and me on Impulse 150. This was an overprepared ride, where we’d almost everything in surplus. From camping tent to sleeping bags, olympus mirrorless camera to GoPro and dedicated motorcycle lugguage, tools, good helmet and gears, only to realise ki yesab kuch kaam nahi aata. And all you need is an okay motorcycle and good friends.

Telling school kids how to rebel.

Chatru, 2014. Decathlon had just hit the Indian market and our exposure to camping was limited to the demo they give you in stores. We pitched a tent for the first time in Chatru, slep well, and next mornng we left our stuff there to ride luggage free to kaza and back. Towards the end of this month long trip, we’d given this tent to someone in Ladakh kyunki humse ab aur ho nahi raha tha.

The stretch from Chatru to Batal turned out to be the most amazing surface I have ever rode through and till date it is my favorite road to ride. I really enjoy rally like riding here between 75 to 95kmph. If you have been here then you would know what this speed means at this stretch.

In Uttarakhand with Akash, 2014. This was my first ride on the newly bought Impulse. We’d gone to this ride just to clock 1500kms on the ODO meter, so that I can get its first service done and ride to Ladakh, which was the real purpose of buying the only dual sport bike back then.

GoPro was a real flex back then.

Ladakh sounded like Mars to us, and it actually felt like that at that age.

Parvati, 2013. Kasol poche toh aisa cultural shock laga ki bhai pucho mat! Har koi kuch kuch fook raha hai, koi Indian dikh nahi raha aur ultra free maahol for noobs like us. Hum toh darr ke Manikaran chale gaye aur langar khaake so taken in Himalayas by @maujbahar

The first machine I ever rode was my Dadaji ki TVS Champ, the iconic moped with pedals that could do both start the engine and ride it like a bicycle.
In the streets of Paris, I met its godmother, the Peugeot 103, 49cc 2 stroke, with the same classic tech.
This uncle and I didn’t speak the same language, but we had one thing in common, a love for naturals :) taken in Paris, France by @maujbahar
