One year ago today, my soulmate came into my life. Layla has truly changed my world and keeps me safe every single day. She is my best friend, with the biggest personality and the kindest heart. I will never forget the first time I met her. She continues to impress me daily with her incredible scent skills and intelligence, all while being her silly self and keeping life fun. Today marks 8 years of living with type one diabetes! 💙💉

8 years of finger pricks, sleepless nights, highs and lows (literally), and the daily fight of managing something most people never see. The struggles have been real, but so has the strength I’ve gained. Type one has tested me in every way possible, but it’s also shaped me into someone stronger, more resilient, and more grateful for the small victories in life.

I want to thank my family and friends for being my constant support system through every battle and every victory!💙

A huge thank you to Shawn Kohn and Tim Groth for being the main reason I was able to get my diabetic alert service dog. Thank you @diabeticalertdog and Joann for providing life changing dogs to so many people and for providing Layla—my life saver with paws. She has truly changed my life forever, keeping me safe, giving me independence, and showing me what unconditional love looks like.

Here’s to 8 years of surviving, thriving, and never backing down. 💪
