🦃🍂 Thanksgiving Weekend Starts Today! 🍁🤎

Team 20YS was honoured to be invited to a wonderful community Thanksgiving gathering hosted by Nunavut Arctic College! It was a beautiful afternoon filled with turkey, ham, tons of delicious fixings, and, most importantly, the warmth of community. 🧡

It was so lovely to reconnect with friends, colleagues, and neighbours as we came together to share the bounty of the season, celebrate our blessings, and appreciate the people who make our community feel like home.

As the saying goes, “Gratitude turns what we have into enough.” 🙏✨ And this Thanksgiving, we’re reminded that the greatest blessings aren’t just what’s on the table, but the people gathered around it.

Couple days after and I am still in awe with how magnificent LUZIA by Cirque du Soleil is.

Team Twenty York Street onboarded the "flight to Mexico" via the performance of LUZIA with the rest of Ottawa on Sep 10th and you'll get a chance to immerse in the wonderful Mexican culture until October 18th.

The standing ovation they got from Ottawans on opening night is very well deserved. It's MEXICAN FIESTA the whole time. You will surely fell in love with them, too!!

Poetically guided by light (‘luz’ in Spanish) and rain (‘lluvia’), LUZIA chronicles the encounters of a parachuted traveler with the culture, nature and mythology of a dreamlike land inhabited by a mystifying menagerie of characters. Refreshing and unexpected, LUZIA enchants by artistically incorporating water into the acrobatic presentation – a first for a Cirque du Soleil touring production.

The ENERGY under the Big Stop was so palpable, everyone was mesmerized by the show and the comedic inserts were
hilarious. People were constantly gasping, clapping, laughing and cheering the whole time.

🌈✨ OTTAWA, LOVE IS IN THE AIR! ✨🌈

The Nation’s Capital turned into a spectacular sea of rainbows, glitter, music, pride, and unapologetic LOVE as Ottawa came together for a glorious Pride celebration! 🏳️‍🌈❤️✨

From the heart of downtown, the streets transformed into a colourful celebration of identity, equality, friendship, family, and community. Every colour of the rainbow had a story to tell—and every step along the parade route was a reminder that love comes in many beautiful forms. 🌈

And of course, Team 20 York St. was there! 📸✨

In cooperation with the City of Ottawa, the 20YS team proudly joined the celebration, capturing the energy, the fabulous moments, the inspiring faces, and the incredible spirit that makes Ottawa such a vibrant and inclusive city.

For us at 20 York St., community is about showing up, celebrating people, amplifying voices, and creating spaces where everyone can feel seen and welcomed. Today, we celebrated alongside friends, families, allies, advocates, creators, and dreamers who continue to make our city shine. ❤️

Last Wednesday, the 20YS team was able to hear, understand and be present at what the European Union, in partnership with the Austrian Embassy and Capital Pride hosted - a Human Rights Panel on Inclusion in Sports as part of the 2026 Capital Pride Festival, moderated by Sean Addis of Alphabet Sports Collective.

The discussion brought together Hannah Stepanik of Fairplay (Austria), the fabulous Hazel/Aidan Faminoff—drag performer and former Team Canada diver—and Kao Laurie of This Tournament Has Everything (BC). Together, they explored how sports can promote inclusion, advance human rights, and help create safer, more equitable spaces for 2SLGBTQ+ communities in Canada and around the world.

Meaningul Inclusion is the central message that the talk wanted everyone to ponder upon. We may not ever achieve the perfect equality but having an avenue regardless of gender, race, faith, or belief etc for everyone to be able express to talk about their uniqueness, abilities, personalities, struggles and wins is important.

Team Twenty York Street appreciates the opportunity to learn and listen and support a meanigful relationship with our 2SLGBTQ+ community.
