Today the roof of the parking garage in South San Francisco I visited had a view of San Bruno Mountain. Right in front of my spot sat 2 ravens no more than 6 feet away. They were waiting for the rain to pass, surveying their world under the storm. taken in South San Francisco, California by @mauxco

All the old paintings on the tombs
They do the sand dance don't you know?
If they move too quick (oh whey oh)
They're falling down like a domino
All the bazaar men by the Nile
They got the money on a bet
Gold crocodiles (oh whey oh)
They snap their teeth on your cigarette
Foreign types with the hookah pipes say

We did our field trips to this place when we were kids and it was equally fun and terrifying. There’s a tomb set up inside that probably looks hokey now, but when you’re 12 years old and you see an actual mummy, a very old and very dead person, you experience a feeling that parents try to keep from their kids as long as possible. Estrella is a 9 foot tall starfish sculpture made of reclaimed steel. Moving it and setting it up is a bit of work, especially in this case where it will be displayed as a free standing sculpture. I used readily available hardware which is used by the commercial electrical trade to construct a base which sits on the ground. The feet are attached with bolts which allow the piece to rotate on installation, and also allow it to be leveled by adjusting the bolts. Two rods attach the back of the piece to the frame to prevent the piece from moving. taken in Sierra Azul Nursery and Gardens by @mauxco

At 50 miles long and 15 miles wide, it’s difficult to convey what an area this large looks like in bloom. These photos don’t do it justice, and it’s only a few hours south of the Bay Area.

The caterpillar that’s sprinting across the screen is some type of tiger moth- there were hundreds of them!

Pictured also is the Grapevine (I5) covered in poppies, and a beautiful meadow near Santa Margarita (hwy 101)
