i’ve been selected as one of this year’s @timetopowerup_ Year 6 Industry Professionals through @prsfoundation

i’ve spent the last few years building @kin_tu_ between radio shows, releases, parties, A&R and whatever else needed doing. Most of this has been learned on the go, with a few mistakes here and there and a lot of help from people who believed in it.

POWER UP supports Black music creators and industry professionals across the UK. being invited into this network feels like an opportunity to pause, look properly at what I’ve built and put stronger foundations going forwards

thank you to @prsfoundation , @timetopowerup_ , @billionaireben , @byyawowusu , @joe_frankland and all the programme partners for putting their trust in me.

and thank you to every artist, collaborator, venue parents, friend and dancer who has helped KIN-TU exist so far.

@sofsof_gla B2B @maveenn: One of my first ever memories of Glasgow nightlife was being absolutely blown away by SOFSOF’s Keep Hush set in 2024 and thinking, why is that guy doing so many wheel-ups during this sweet person’s set looooool 🥴

Many years on, I now understand that moment was built on years of friendship, history, community and a shared understanding of what it means to really listen to and show up each other.

I’ve had the pleasure of DJing with both of them a few times, and they’re two of my favourite selectors; both instinctive, generous DJs who know exactly when to listen within a B2B as much as they know when to talk.

SOFSOF is a DJ, promoter and 3D artist who has become such a defining figure in Glasgow’s grassroots club scene. Through FUSE, CL!CK and their work at Stereo, they’ve consistently championed queer artists and created spaces rooted in fun, safety and community. Their sets move fearlessly through UK funky, dubstep, jungle, footwork, booty bass and global club mutations, always with ridiculous energy and impeccable selection. I genuinely can’t think of many people who have shaped Glasgow’s underground music culture as much as they have.

MAVEEN is equally influential, building an incredible ecosystem through KIN-TU that platforms Black and Queer artists while connecting Glasgow to wider networks of independent music and culture. His work across club nights, radio, production and cultural programming reflects the same commitment to community, history and creating space for others.

Both are huge role models for me and people I’ve learnt so much from. I have so much love and respect for them both, and I genuinely cannot wait for these two selectors to be reunited again 👬❤️🫂 taken in Glasgow, Scotland by @maveenn

🜁 KIN–TU // DJ FUCKOFF // THE BERKELEY SUITE 🜁

We’re back at The Berkeley Suite on Friday 09 October. This time welcoming @dj.fuckoff to the basement.  After the original date was postponed, we’ve been working to bring them back to Glasgow properly. Now we can finally finish what we started. Fast, physical, and hard to pin down. Moving through techno, electro, breaks, ghettotech, and bass with little interest in staying within genre boundaries. Her sets are playful yet heavy. Very happy we’ve finally been able to make this one happen.

Joining her on the night are residents @maveenn , @nam.e.n and @plantainchipps taking us from open to close.

Introducing our next DJ playing @intibint’s Half Moon Eyes Album Party 🌙

@maveenn who is joining us on both 10th September at Ormside Projects, London
& 12th September Stereo, Glasgow

Ugandan-born, Glasgow-based DJ, radio host, producer and organiser MAVEEN operates at the intersection of club culture, community infrastructure and independent music development.

Arriving in Scotland as a refugee aged four, his relationship with music began through bedroom production and mix-making before evolving into a wider curatorial and ecosystem-building practice.

Sonically, his sets sit between house, disco and bass-heavy club music - grounded in swing, polyrhythm and groove as much as physical weight.

He is also the founder of KIN-TU, a DIY label and creative platform supporting emerging artists across Glasgow and beyond. while foregrounding the cultural histories that underpin contemporary club music. Initially launched to platform local producers, the project has expanded into a multi-strand ecosystem spanning vinyl releases, digital projects, club residencies and touring showcases. Through its “phase” parties and KIN-TU & Friends takeovers, the platform centres Black and Queer artists while foregrounding the cultural histories that underpin contemporary club music.

For Echo in the Dark, Hanna Tuulikki and Tommy Perman transformed bat echolocation recordings through layered voices and electronics.
