AAAAAND THAT’S A WRAP!

Another BC Summer Championships now concluded. The water stills, the breath slows, and the medals are proudly displayed. Some extra sleep (hopefully) taken as well!

This was my 16th BC Provincial Championship event worked, and I’m very grateful to all individuals involved, and their efforts in getting this event to fruition. Grateful as well to be able to continue to be lucky enough to be able to do something so unique!

Big thanks to Kamloops Classic & Swim BC for the invite to the meet this weekend. I appreciate the continued partnership! Thank you as well to everyone for the chats, and all the laughs, through the weekend. I appreciate you all!

Two comps left for me this summer, then a few weeks break until the 2026-2027 season starts up! Some exciting things in the pipe for the upcoming season!

Looking forward to seeing YOU at the next one!
Until then! ✌🏼

Throwing it back this Thursday with a shout to the WS, PTBO, ESWIM-hosted Ontario Summer Champs earlier this July!

Officials, athletes, coaches & spectators rolled along with high spirits through this beast of a meet’s 15 sessions!

Lots of great energy accompanied lightshow-intro’d record-breaking swims & team camaraderie. Great meet to end off the main ONT season! Looking forward to returning to this one!

❓- How many provincial / national records were set at OSCs this season? Answer in slides so answer before swiping!

Well when Day 1’s atmosphere was said to be electric, that was an understatement!

Day 4 seats were sold out at TPASC and the leadoff event was the W 400 IM with a NEW WORLD RECORD from @summerrmcintosh ! Perhaps in line with her stating she was somewhat disappointed with her time in the 400 FR on Monday she came in with straight 🔥 tonight! On pace from the get go, she absolutely BLASTED her previous WR by one and a half seconds! 👀
OQT with this swim, 3/3 with her individual events.

M 100 FR was next, and saw new OQT standards made for @joshua.liendo (🥇47.55) tying his time of second fastest in CAN history (.28 away from Hayden’s record!) & @yuri_kisil (🥈48.19). @finlayknox & @javier_acevedo1 , coming in 3rd (48.29) & 4th (48.58), make up the last two positions nominated to the M 4x100 FR Relay!
First time in CAN history having four on the men’s side under 49!

W 200 BK saw a 🥇 place finish for @kyliemasse @ 2:06.24 &🥈 @reganrathwell @ 2:09.38. Masse with the 4th fastest time in the world this year. Rathwell’s time now the 9th fastest in CAN history! Both times well under the OQT of 2:10.39!
First ever Olympic Team nomination for Rathwell here! 👏🏼

Para Highlights:

In the W 100 FR, a double CAN Para Record set:
2x Paralympian UL @tessroutliffe in the S7 sport class @ 1:12.95, breaking her previous record of 1:13.97 set in Rio!
Tokyo Paralympian LASER @shelbylnewkirk broke her standing S6 record of 1:14.52 with a 1:13.68! (Error in my story, sorry!)

A triple in the M 100 FR!
PSW Sebastian Massabie broke his own S4 record of 1:24.85 by a second with a 1:23.88 in prelims! Under the A-Standard here!
Tokyo Paralympian RDCSC @nicholas.bennett_ snuck a new S14 Record into the Time Trial session, lowering his record of 53.19 to 52.42!
The finals session saw EKSC @reidmaxwell_ with a new CAN S8 Record, breaking his own of 1:00.78!

Looking forward to Day 5!

(Did I miss anything? 👀)

W 100 BK; @kyliemasse with the 2nd fastest time in the world this year 🥇57.94. Is followed into the wall 🥈59.31 by @ingridwilm ! Both under the OQT of 59.99, giving Wilm her first Olympic Team berth nomination!

GPP @ollie_daw08 for a 🥇finish in 2:12.42 for a new CAN 15-17 Age Group Record! A double record here too, in the morning 2:14.20 breaking KSS Gabe Mastromatteo’s 2019 record of 2:14.30 by a tenth!

Unfortunately McIntosh missing the tied World JR & CAN Record (her own) of 1:53.65 by .04 in the effort. @julie.brousseauu & @emmaocroinin , finishing 3rd (🥉1:57.60) & 4th (1:57.86), come together to make up the four nominations for the W 4x200 FR Relay Team!

In the M 100 BR the 🥇went to @_blaketierney , clinching his first Olympic berth nomination with a 53.48 (.13 off Thormeyer’s CAN SR Record)! Only .07 behind Tierney, a sub-OQT swim from 🥈 @javier_acevedo1 lead to his 1st Olympic Team nomination at this year’s Trials!

Of the 5 Olympic hopefuls in the W 100 BR unfortunately no OQT standards achieved tonight, though @sophieangus_ (🥇1:06.96) did achieve the OCT, putting her into consideration for the team.

D1 recap at the Bell Canadian Olympic & Paralympic Canadian Trials!

TPASC was abuzz with excitement for the 9³⁰ start to prelims this Monday morning. Some great racing to start off this year’s Trials including a new Para WORLD RECORD in the Men’s S5 50 BF for Sebastian Massabie of PSW! Fantastic race between Savard and Smith in H6 of the W 100m BF right down to the bitter end for a 3rd place TIE of 58.65!!

Resuming in the evening for D1 Finals:

An absolutely ᴇ ʟ ᴇ ᴄ ᴛ ʀ ɪ ᴄ atmosphere accompanying the first swim, the W 400m FR featuring Summer McIntosh!
McIntosh on pace with Titmus’ July WR up until the 300m mark. Finishing out 3:59.06 with the fastest time in the world this year and the first Paris Olympic team nomination of the meet!

Talk about your latergrams!

Rather behind with social media engagement, but here’s a recent update! Thanks to new followers in the past few weeks, appreciate your interest! ✌🏼

Dec 3rd:

An empty pool once again!

The doors have closed at the Guildford Recreation Center on the second iteration of the Ken Demchuk International. Another fantastic experience seeing getting to see further into the depth and breadth of the Para swimming community both domestically and internationally. Strong representation through nearly all of the 14 Para Swimming sport classifications from across Canada, as well as internationally from the USA, Australia, Ireland, Mexico, and Uganda!

17 Canadian record-breaking swims by the end of Sunday’s finals session, and several swims not far off! A definite high note to finish out the competition, especially since Sunday’s sessions coincided with International Persons with a Disability Day!

Thanks to @swimmingcanada for the opportunity to come out and work this meet, and big thanks to hosts, @surreyknightsswimclub for all the work behind the scenes and the 𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳 hospitality!

Two thirds of the way through our programme here at the 2023 Wavemaker Invitational! It’s been getting toasty in the pool and outdoors here in Victoria with some beautiful weather this weekend! Perfect for this tropical themed event! 🌞

One of the highlights of yesterday’s sessions was a good show in preliminaries by the 13-14 PCS-A Boys 4x50 Medley Relay. The team layed down a 1:54.64, a time exactly 1.50 secs over their own standing 2017 BC Provincial record of 1:53.14.

Shoutout to the Red Deer Catalina Swim Club for really ‘leiing’ it down with all of the tropical-themed gear! Best dressed for sure! 🌺🌴

Day 3 Prelims underway here at Saanich Commonwealth! Congratulations on all successes in the pool thus far, and the best of luck to all competitors in today’s sessions! #letsgo
