Hi hi! 👋🏼 I thought it was time to introduce myself! My name is Sophia, and welcome to Mavericks of Movement.

I started Mavericks of Movement on the belief that movement should extend beyond the walls of a traditional studio.

What began in 2025 as a Pilates program for equestrians in Northern California has grown into a movement practice rooted in structural kinesiology, biomechanics, strength, resilience, and longevity.

A little about me! I’m a comprehensively certified Classical Pilates instructor, a 200-hour certified Yoga Teacher, and currently studying Kinesiology at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Before finding my way into movement science and athletic performance, I spent years training and performing professionally in ballet and contemporary dance, with experience at Ballet Austin, Alonzo King LINES Ballet, DART Dance Berlin, Complexions Ballet, and Gibney Company in New York City.

While my background is rooted in dance and athletic performance, my approach to movement is for everybody. Whether you’re an athlete, navigating an injury, or simply looking to feel stronger and more comfortable in your body, I believe movement should be approachable, purposeful, and sustainable.

At the heart of Mavericks of Movement is a simple goal: to help people better understand their bodies, build lasting strength, and move through life with greater confidence.

I’m so glad you’re here! 🤍 #pilateshawaii #contrology by @mavericksofmovement

Brought Classical Pilates to the farm 🌾🌊

Huge thanks to @tarafirmafarms for welcoming me for my very first pop-up—it was such a blast! 💛 And a big thank you to everyone who came out to move, snack, and support.

I hope you left feeling inspired, empowered, and motivated to keep moving your body while supporting your local farms and ranches 🙏 because health is shaped by ALL things we consume💪

Follow for updates on upcoming pop-ups & community classes!

Two things I am passionate about: Movement and Agriculture.

Let’s celebrate both together! Health is influenced by ALL things we consume 🤙
