Tried but fell short. Swam in the break and rode like Bambi on ice. Quite honestly terrified through each corner and maxxing out trying to stay on every group 🥴

Rallied for a decent run despite it and still enjoyed the opportunity to race a world championship. Time to send some descents x by @max_stapley

45 days ago I was laying on the ground looking at the sky wondering how I’d got there. Collarbone in 5 pieces, tears in my eyes at the pain and a broken heart, wondering if I’d race again in 2026

Tomorrow I race the world championships in great shape and a knife wedged between my teeth 🩸

Rehab maxxing in full swing 🏃🏼‍♂️‍➡️

Been pulling out all the stops and on day 20 I’m finally back to a fully normal program. Did my first hard swim today, 3 weeks to whip myself back to breakaway shape, titanium plate has made my catch rock solid ⚔️

Still taking it day by day and accepting the discomfort is becoming gradually easier x by @max_stapley

Last Sunday I crashed on a training ride on some loose gravel, skidding across the road and breaking my collarbone in 5 places. Looking back there was absolutely nothing I could do. We weren’t going excessively fast, on our side of the road and in control. I just drew the short straw.

I was rushed to hospital in the back of the ambulance with no pain meds or water as I’d have to undergo X-rays and CT scans. Probably the most uncomfortable two hours of my life through the winding Pyrénéen roads. 24h later I was already bolted back together in record time by the magician @doctorteramo a huge thanks to all involved in making that happen.

I’m currently regaining mobility in my left arm and shoulder and can soon return to adapted forms of training. Everything has gone well and I look forward to be back competing as soon as possible. Some obvious disappointment as I was heading into the last couple races of the year with great confidence and shape, but I’m not the first athlete to have to hustle back to a start line, and I know I’m more than capable. Time to bite down on that stick.
