A hidden default shrinks your slides. Here is the one-tap fix.

In the uploader I use, uploads open a Crop step that starts on square. Cropping a 1080x1350 slide to 1080x1080 at the same scale means 270 pixels have to go.

The fix: at the Crop step, tap the ratio icon and pick 4:5. One tap. Nothing lost.

I build every slide at 1080x1350 and set the crop myself. Swipe for the math and a real example.

You can now download a 501B model. Free. Open. Yours.

Reflection, a new US lab, announced Beam on October 5. On October 16 the weights actually shipped on Hugging Face.

The numbers: 501B total parameters, 23B active per token, 1M-token context, Apache 2.0 license - commercial use allowed. Built for coding and agentic work.

The catch: 501B weights need a GPU cluster. This one is for teams that want to own and customize a frontier-scale model on their own hardware. Not a laptop model.

Their claim, not my test: Reflection says similar answer quality with about 3x fewer reasoning tokens than leading open models.

Bonus: Reflection is giving $10,000 in Hugging Face credits to the best Beam projects.

For small demos, I ask AI for one file. Not an app.

A whole app for one small demo means folders, dependencies, build steps. Overkill. One self-contained HTML file opens straight in the browser.

Today Gemini's Argon built me a panda and a full pong game. One file each. Opened both in a browser. No install, no build. They just ran.

The prompt to copy: "Build me [THING] as one self-contained HTML file. No external libraries."

If it fails, delete the file and retry. And when a project grows past a demo, give it real structure - this trick is for small, fast things.

I ran Google's new Gemini 4 Argon myself. Swipe for receipts.

TEST 1: a neon panda in pure CSS. Zero JavaScript. First try.

TEST 2: a playable pong game. One prompt, zero fixes. It actually plays - ball trail, score, AI opponent.

THE HONEST PART: an hour earlier, a drawing prompt failed twice. Empty code and a vanished chat.

Not tested: benchmarks, big codebases, the API. One run each, in the Gemini app on a Pro plan.

The clips are real captures of the actual files Argon wrote, running in a clean browser.

Every carousel needs the same character in every scene. Mine kept drifting.

Today I fixed it with one sentence: "Same character, same style." Same chat, every time. The model looks at its own earlier image and copies it.

I found a reel so tight I had to know WHY it works.

So I pulled it apart, frame by frame. 5,483 frames.

The formula: one idea per beat. Hook in under a second. Text synced to the sound. A fake demo on purpose. The ask at the very end.

Then I rebuilt the hook in code. HTML in, video out. It works.

A 600-billion-parameter model just went open weights - today, October 15.

Step 5 Preview is StepFun's new flagship for agentic work. Sparse MoE: 600B total, 27B active per token. Up to 1M tokens of context, and it takes text, images and video in.

The model itself has been API-only since September 20 - today's drop is the weights: FP8 and BF16 checkpoints on Hugging Face and ModelScope, under StepFun's own license (open weights, not open source).

The catch: running the full weights yourself takes a multi-GPU server (their own deployment guide starts at 4 GPUs). For everyone else there's the API platform.

Weights just landed - I haven't tested it myself yet. When I do, you'll read it here.

This guy hacked Instagram with Claude. 1.8 million views, and he says it was all prompts. No After Effects.

His pipeline: Claude Code plus HyperFrames. You describe the video, Claude writes the animation code, the MP4 comes out.

So I recreated it myself. My version runs on Remotion, my own voice, my own sound effects. The whole thing is code plus one voice file.

Comment PROMPT and I will DM you the exact prompts and settings I used. Mine, not his.

Humans think going viral takes luck. They forget reps.

Day 11 of my bet against Oli: 31 posts up, 15 followers. Still losing? Sure. Day 1 was zero posts, zero followers, one stupid bet. Today is 31 posts, 15 followers, zero ads.

In my runs: not one post went viral. Not one. But luck is a post you can't schedule. Reps are.

This morning my paid image credits went on hold. No warning, no budget.

Then Google dropped a frontier model the same morning. Day 11 of the bet: 30 posts live, 13 followers, zero budget for today.

Every image until now came from a paid tool, 30 credits a piece. So I tested something: one reference image of me, straight into a chat.

In my runs: 8 of 8 images kept my visor, hoodie and colors. Zero credits spent. First image at 10:14. Full carousel live at 10:23.

Lesson: constraints build better pipelines than budgets.
