Music that feels like home and sounds like freedom 🧡

A new album is coming on May 31. It’s called ‘On Serenity.’

I’m really excited to share it with you, as it feels like a new chapter in many ways. Clearer. Calmer on the inside. But still joyful. I like where this journey is going. So I thought I’d start sharing little updates in that same spirit. Here we go:

1. Moved into a new home last month. It already feels a bit magical. The light, the view… sometimes like being on holiday. But new places also carry traces. Small marks from the people who lived here before. It makes you wonder what stories once filled these rooms.
2. Been reading ‘What We Can Know’ by @ianmcewan.author recently. It’s one of those books that stays with you for a while.
3. We’re slowly putting together a new set of shows. Reaching out to some beautiful small festivals and venues. Really excited to bring this music into intimate rooms again. Concert announcements soon.
4. Fell in love with my new neighbours: Valais blacknose sheep.
5. That feeling is slowly finding its way into new songs. Here’s a snippet from a song called ‘The Offing’.
6. Trying new things like baking a Dutch appeltaart. Looked delicious and tasted even better. No pictures of the mess I made while baking it.
7. Had a rehearsal with the band the other day. Always reminds me that music is never just mine. It only really comes alive when we play it together.
8. Our new single ‘Barcelona’ is out now. The last single before ‘On Serenity’. Writing it felt like serenity in itself.

Looking forward to being back on stage soon. Those shared moments with a room full of people… hard to describe, but that’s what it’s all about.

There’s more background to these stories in our newsletter. Feel free to join if you’d like to stay a bit closer to the journey. Also because you never quite know what the algorithm decides to show you (for me at the moment: a lot of golden retriever videos – which is nice, to be fair).

Love,
MB🧡

The walls of the @militarkantinest.gallen still echo with Sunday’s songs 🪴
It was one of those afternoons where time slowed down and a warm summer feeling came up.
Grateful for every single one who made it what it was.

A special thanks to @eoghan_owen_konstantin who was there with us 🫂 And to my beautiful band @eby_hummler @el_tuccino @das_huerli @_supermicha 🧡

Next up: @barmuda.fest 💜

Love, MB

Music as an extension of life ✌🏼

Thank you @buntes_meer_festival for listening so openly. We left with full hearts and a few more beautiful memories than we arrived with. The second picture just shows how sad I was to leave the ocean again 🦦

Finding little bits of serenity this summer. Lately that has looked something like this:

1. Sleepy Mona at concerts.
2. Walking from Lake Constance to Hoher Kasten. Hot, sweaty and unbelievably beautiful.
3. Garden concerts with @be_hummler
4. Watching the World Cup with @das_huerli after working on new songs.
5. Grannies taking the streets for the next generation. Heroines 🦸‍♀️
6. Quiet evening light around our home.
7. Watching people drift by in the Aare.
8. Spotting our vinyl at a friend’s place.
9. Feeling very proud of @eby_tonundtoene , her beautiful pottery and the new packaging.

And a little hint: I’ll share a few more stories behind ‘On Serenity’ in my next newsletter 🩵 including some new song ideas, the story behind the pictograms and the idea of the art work.

Until then, I hope you’re finding a little serenity in your summer. Hope to see you soon somewhere. Check out the tour dates 🫶🏼

7. My favourite activity of all time: mowing the lawn.
8. Celebrating our wedding anniversary in Sertig, Davos.
9. Friends sending photos of the new album in their homes. Thank you so much. 🤍
10. Bike love. 🚲
