Mighty for NZ Music Month won a SILVER at BEST design awards on Friday night. Collaborating along side Jamie @interestingthingsaotearoa, we helped to create a unified day-to-night public artwork that supported NZ Music Month, by celebrating Aotearoa's songwriters, and encouraging connection between artists and their audiences.
Song lyrics from featured artists such as Reb Fountain, Leao, Geneva AM and The Beths were projected across the iconic Waitematā Station façade, allowing the building itself to become a stage.
Projection mapped typography and animation was meticulously designed for long-distance readability and integrated into the building's complex columns, windows and ornamentation, allowing the architecture to reveal, frame and celebrate the lyrics. Tracing and projection lighting celebrated the building facade details.

Mighty for NZ Music Month demonstrated how thoughtful experience design, live performance and architectural projection can work together to transform public space into a shared cultural celebration—creating moments of intimacy, discovery and connection at both human and city scale.

The work was commissioned by @aucklandlive and supported by Auckland Council Events.
With thanks to @nolwennlacire our most excellent client who loves to make cool things happen in the CBD.

And our technical partners @streamlinerproductions for putting in the time to make those lineups perfect! by @maxdesaii
