This is called “Say Goodnight”. I wrote this in a pit of pain and lethargy just over a year ago, and it was a therapeutic emotional anchor as well as a deep form of self discovery and expression. I have carried this very special voice memo in my pocket for a year, and it has been there for me through times of joy, fear, anger, grief, heartbreak, and multiple beautiful new chapters. This was the last song my mother heard before peacefully passing in my loving arms. I wonder how much less special that moment would have been, had I not documented my self expression on a recording for her to see what she gifted me. Although it’s just a voice memo, and a first take, I expect it will be the last take for a very long time. The amount of my deepest self that I gave to this take and the amount of new self that I discovered creating it is something very personal to me, vulnerable and visceral. I’m releasing this voice memo because I imagine somebody else may have a chance to grow or discover themselves alongside me as I share my pain and fear through sound. To anyone who chooses to listen, thankyou for listening to my deepest self that I have access to, it means something very special to me that is very difficult to put into words. To my mother, Mom you taught me above all other things, to be myself as hard as I can and this is the deepest self I know. I am proud of the life you lived and everything you gave me. You were a very special singer, and a beautiful mother. Thankyou. Also thankyou to everyone who has shared love, my grieving has been on the sweeter end of bittersweet because of all of you. Love you guys! Love you mom! I will be releasing writing about my grief soon on my poetry page @sweetsomethingssincerely #mothersday

Ahhh jeez this is a tough one, to hear. Mom you were the bees knees, and a hell of an artist. Here is your first poetry tribute. This poem speaks for itself, with a loud Texas voice, just like you always did. I can hear your laugh right now and see you putting your hand over your heart like you used to.
