Summer has never been my favourite chapter.

The rivers slow down.
The days feel endless.

But every season has its purpose.

Summer teaches patience…

Because once the leaves begin to fall, everything changes.

And for those of us who live for predator fishing, that’s when the real magic begins.

What’s your favourite season to fish?

Don’t cry, boys… 🎸😭

Trout season in Spain is over. Time to look back at all those unforgettable moments, the fish you caught, the ones you lost, and the memories you made with your friends.

Now it’s time to let our rivers’ trout reproduce in peace and turn our attention to reservoirs and winter predators. 🐊🎣

Dry your tears, clean your gear, and start dreaming about next season. The rivers will be waiting for us!

Until next time, boys… 🤘

For me, fly fishing would never quite be the same without the art of tying your own flies.

I’ve been fly fishing for more than 35 years, and I’ve never bought a fly. The very first ones I used were tied with my grandmother’s wool. They were, honestly, pretty rough… but they caught fish. And more importantly, they taught me to value what I have today.

A whole universe of materials at my fingertips. Specialized shops. Endless patterns. Tutorials, knowledge and inspiration everywhere.

But tying your own flies is about more than simply creating something that looks like a fly.

I believe it makes you a better fly tier — and eventually, a better angler. Because once you start tying your own flies, you learn that sometimes the difference isn’t in how a fly looks from the outside, but in how it is built on the inside.

The proportions. The materials. The way they move. The little details that nobody sees… until the fly hits the water.

And perhaps that’s what I love most about fly tying: there is always something more to learn, something to change, something to improve.

From a few strands of my grandmother’s wool to a universe of materials.

Thirty years later, I’m still learning.

What about you? Do you tie your own flies?
