This is what it looks like when 150 hours of teacher training meet one of the most beautiful classrooms on earth. 🌴

The newest TEFL graduates at #MaximoCostaRica just earned their certification and the teaching experience to prove it. Grammar instruction, vocabulary techniques, classroom management, assessment, lesson planning, and a job-finding workshop, all of it guided by their expert TEFL trainer from the first lesson to the last. And before graduation day, they spent an entire week teaching real lessons to local students at the Manuel Antonio-Quepos campus. Not just theory. Real teaching, real students, real confidence. 🇨🇷

Jazmine flew solo to Cusco looking for adventure and a chance to try something completely outside her world. She found both at #MaximoPeru. ✨

She volunteered with children, worked alongside teenage mothers at a residential home that helps them finish school, build new skills, and stand on their own. She cared for animals at a local zoo, and explored Peru on the weekends: horseback riding through the highlands, ATVs at the salt mines, and hiked Machu Picchu. 🇵🇪

But it was the time she spent alongside those young mothers that turned a solo trip into something personal. Back home in Canada, Jazmine runs her own business with a scholarship built into the way it operates. It had been waiting for the right moment. Cusco was it. Her dad added to it through his own business, and together they filled bags with supplies for the home: diapers, groceries, clothing for the mothers, toys and books for the children, and everyday essentials that make a real difference. 💙

Mark your calendars. November 14 and 15, Antigua Guatemala transforms into one of the most beautiful places in Central America. 🌸

Ten years ago, a group of locals decided to fill the city with flowers. What started as a simple idea has grown into the Festival de las Flores, one of the most extraordinary cultural celebrations in the region, filling the streets, parks, and historic monuments of the colonial city with floral art, immersive installations, music, and culture that draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. And our campus at #MaximoGuatemala is right in the middle of it all. 🇬🇹 taken in Antigua Guatemala by @maximoabroad

"I love, love, love all the teachers. They've been my favorite part of this experience." 🇨🇷

Jessica came to #MaximoCostaRica from the University of Wisconsin-Madison to spend six weeks improving her Spanish for a career in physical therapy. She took three courses including Medical Spanish, lived with one of our local host families, and immersed herself in the language and the culture every day. But ask her what made the biggest difference, and she doesn't hesitate. The teachers. She says they were invested in every student's learning, brought the culture of the city into the classroom, and took them on excursions to experience Costa Rica firsthand. Six weeks later, she's leaving with stronger Spanish, a new perspective on life outside the United States, and a lot of gratitude for the people who made it happen.

It only happens on a handful of beaches in the entire world. This is one of them. 🐢

During the past weeks, thousands of olive ridley sea turtles have been hauling themselves out of the Pacific and onto the same stretch of Costa Rican coastline to nest, all at once, in one of the rarest wildlife events on the planet. Our Sea Turtle Conservation volunteers at #MaximoCostaRica have been right there alongside local biologists, patrolling the beach, protecting eggs, and releasing hatchlings from earlier nests at the waterline to watch each one scramble toward the waves on pure instinct. 💙

Noah needed 300 internship hours for his criminology degree. He found them at a law firm in Cusco. 🦙

A third-year student at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, he came to #MaximoPeru ready to turn years of theory into his first real professional experience. His Law Internship placed him at our partner private firm in Cusco, where he spent his days analyzing cases, writing legal reports, and proofreading corruption files with the team. He had his own desk, a supervisor he worked alongside daily, and a schedule that ran eight hours a day, all conducted in Spanish. 🇵🇪

A year earlier, he hadn't spoken a word of it. He started with online Spanish classes with our teachers, built his level from the ground up, and arrived in Cusco with enough to function inside a legal office. Daily Spanish classes continued alongside the placement, and by the end the language that once felt foreign had become the tool he used to read, write, and discuss Peruvian criminal law. He left Peru with his university requirement complete, a reference from the firm, and an experience he said exceeded every expectation he came with. 📖

One day you are in a classroom helping kids practice numbers in English. The next you are covered in dust, mixing concrete and hammering fence posts into the ground. That was the week for a group of Montclair State University students at #MaximoGuatemala 💙

Their service learning program split across two very different projects. At a local school they assisted teachers with English worksheets, ran activities across four classrooms, and closed out the day with games and a piñata. On the construction site they built a fence for a community field and laid cobblestones for a new walkway, working alongside our local team from morning through midday. Between projects they hiked Pacaya volcano, visited the Iximche archaeological ruins, explored Antigua's markets and museum circuit, and took a traditional cooking class 🇬🇹

A week of showing up, getting outside your comfort zone, and learning that service is not about the labor you put in. It is about what you leave behind ✨ by @maximoabroad

Stomping cob barefoot on a sustainable farm. Picking coffee in the cloud forest. Coming face to face with a howler monkey on a hanging bridge. The University of Alabama in Huntsville brought eco-agriculture and eco-tourism together across #MaximoCostaRica 🇨🇷
11 students and their group leaders spent a week between Monteverde and La Fortuna on a program that balanced hands-on service with some of Costa Rica's most iconic landscapes. In Monteverde, they worked alongside a local farming community building eco-construction walls, harvesting coffee, and tending a medicinal garden before heading out to walk the hanging bridges through the canopy and visit a wildlife sanctuary where they got up close with sloths, jaguars, and tapirs 🌿
In La Fortuna, the week shifted to eco-tourism. A nature walk through the volcanic landscape around Arenal, a boat ride across the lake, and a farewell afternoon soaking in natural hot springs 🦥

Somebody called the Nazca Lines “the largest astronomy book in the world.” Others think they were sacred highways, water rituals, or messages to the gods. Nobody actually knows. 📸

What we do know is this: over 2,000 years ago, the ancient Nazca civilization etched more than 800 lines, 300 geometric shapes, and 70 enormous animal figures into the Peruvian desert floor, covering nearly 190 square miles. Some figures stretch over 1,000 feet long and can only be fully seen from the sky. UNESCO declared them a World Heritage Site in 1994, and after more than 80 years of study, the mystery has never been solved. 🇵🇪 #MaximoPeru taken in Cusco Perú by @maximoabroad

Her degree is in Entrepreneurship and Social Responsibility. Her internship was at a business that lives both. 💡

Annika is a Management major at Northern Illinois University studying Entrepreneurship and Social Responsibility, and she came to #MaximoGuatemala to get experience inside a real small business. Her placement was at a small operation in Antigua centered on animal rescue and education that also runs a café. The business had the mission and the foundations but hadn't brought its public-facing side together. Annika took that on. 🇬🇹

She designed the website from the ground up, working with the business's original designer, collected customer testimonials that hadn't existed before, created a new menu, and refreshed the visual identity at the entrance. Then she co-organized a community event where local children spent a day learning about responsible pet care, exploring the garden, and hearing stories about how to look after animals. The event was picked up on social media by both organizations and reached hundreds of people. The website is live and the work she did is still in place. 💙

She came looking for hands-on experience. She left behind a business that finally looks as good as its mission. ✨ by @maximoabroad
