Raves originated as illegal underground gatherings where DJs, artists, and music lovers came together to celebrate electronic music in warehouses and other unconventional spaces. What began as a niche, community-driven movement evolved into a global entertainment industry, with large-scale festivals attracting hundreds of thousands of attendees each year. Despite becoming increasingly commercialized, modern festivals continue to reflect many of the core values established by early rave culture, including creativity, inclusivity, and a shared appreciation for electronic dance music (Reynolds, 1998; Brewster & Broughton, 2014).
