4) Cactus - I generally like drawing cacti (much like blenders and pineapples there’s something very gratifying about making the shapes even if the final product looks bad) but I didn’t want to do this one because I just drew some cactus guys a few weeks ago and it got pretty out of control and I’m still recovering from that whole process. #inktober #inktober2026 by @maxscoville

3) Miniature - despite miniatures being one of my favorite things to make this prompt really stumped me so here’s a shitty little rat on a minibike. They can’t all be winners. #inktober #inktober2026 by @maxscoville

2) Relic - From what I gather, the difference between a relic and artifact is an artifact is something historically significant that’s manmade, whereas a relic is something that’s historically significant because it’s associated with someone or something, even if it isn’t inherently meaningful at face value. Anyway, here’s some living string from Bloodborne, which I think you pull off that dead eyeball thing in Mergo’s basement or whatever, which is a significant relic that’s also just plain nasty. #inktober #inktober2026 by @maxscoville

‘Tis the season! I can’t think of the last thing I pre-ordered faster, but the second @mondonews revealed these I was on it like molasses on potatoes, the justification being that they’re not just collectibles… they’re SEASONAL DECORATIONS which means they’ll get put away next month, but that’ll just make them more special. Now I just need the Pottsfield pumpkin people and Miss Langtree, her students and her fiance, that no good Jimmy Brown. by @maxscoville

1) Apple - I spent like 35 years thinking Richard Scarry was European as hell because he put all the animal children in lederhosen but apparently he was from Boston which is somehow less believable to me than the idea of a worm driving a car shaped like an apple. Though apparently he lived in Switzerland later in life, which makes slightly more sense. #inktober #inktober2026 by @maxscoville

My childhood best friend recently unearthed this ancient inkjet printout of him (I think?) absolutely frying me with an energy blast, probably around 1998 or so. His dad had this dope Sony Mavica digital camera that used floppy disks instead of a memory card so we used to take pictures of each other doing sick moves and then put them into MS Paint to Goku them up a bit. He didn’t have any photos of it, but I think my special ability was neon green corrosive acid barf like Reptile in Mortal Kombat that melted people into red goo. by @maxscoville

Welp. Starting in November, I will no longer be employed by IGN. I cannot overstate how much of an honor and a privilege it’s been to be part of this company. I’ve been all over the world, met multiple heroes, and gotten to make mountains of cool stuff I’m immensely proud of. However, the best part of IGN is, was, and always will be the people there (that’s right, “the friends we made along the way”). Some jobs are just jobs, and some co-workers are the people you see at work, but I’ve been lucky enough to spend my tenure surrounded by a huge group of talented, hard-working, passionate and kind human beings, and I’m heartbroken to be saying goodbye. As for anyone who took the time to watch, read, listen to or otherwise give a moment’s attention to what I worked on at IGN over the years, thank you. I hope it was entertaining, informative, or at the very least, not too annoying. Right now, I’m figuring out what comes next. If you have any leads or opportunities, please reach out! by @maxscoville
