“A man who stands for nothing, will fall for anything.”

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
YEAR 30.

Three decades in.
Still alive. Still building. Still becoming.

Last week I heard this quote:

“Most people die at 25, but aren’t buried until 75.”

That hit me.

So I asked myself…
Did I die at 25?

Absolutely not.

And a year ago, on my 29th birthday, I made a decision.

For one full year, I was going to live by one mantra:

SEND IT.

Say yes to the stretch.
Say yes to the risk.
Say yes to the uncomfortable growth.
Stop overthinking. Start moving.

That year changed me.

My twenties were not about playing it safe.
They were about RISK.
About movement.
About discovery.

If I had to sum up the last decade in one sentence:

Your 20s are for taking the MOST risk in pursuit of DISCOVERY — not success.

Discovery of who you are.
What you stand for.
What you love.
Where you thrive.
What God actually wired you to do.

Wins. Losses. Detours. Plot twists.
Nothing was wasted.

Not the confusion.
Not the heartbreak.
Not the failures.
Not the pivots.

None of it.

You get to choose how you live.
You get to choose courage over comfort.
You get to choose action over comparison.

Life isn’t fair. It never has been.
Comparison will drain your soul.
Envy will suffocate your calling.

But here’s the truth:

You were not created accidentally.

God gave you one of a kind gifts.
And the world shifts when you use them.

So use them.

30 is not a slowdown.
It’s acceleration.

A couple of verses to cling to:

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord… “plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Year 29 was SEND IT.

Year 30?

We build.

This morning while doing dishes, I found myself thinking about just how much life has changed over the last year.

Living on the other side of the world. Starting a business. Having and losing a relationship. Unexpected doors opening and others closing. And a whole lot of life in between.

It’s not always easy to understand why things unfold the way they do, but one thing I’ve become more confident in: no season is wasted, and no experience is wasted… unless you choose for it to be.

And now, another new chapter.

About a month ago, I packed up and officially moved to Dallas, Texas, to join the team at Watermark Community Church.

New city. New job. New people. First time living on my own. New roots being planted.

It’s already been a full and incredible first month, and I’m grateful for the fresh start and excited to see what the Lord has ahead.

As I look back on the last 12 months, everything that made up 2025, I don’t see the same Max at the end that I saw at the beginning.

Living out a year of “send it” has genuinely changed my life.

The biggest lesson has been faith.

I’ve walked intentionally with Jesus for the last 10 years. My faith has been tested before. Many times. But this past year challenged me in a different way.

Changing careers. Moving to the other side of the world. Letting go of certainty.

I keep coming back to the story of Peter. He never would’ve known he could walk on water if he stayed in the boat. Walking on water is impossible. But not with God. The miracle didn’t happen until he stepped into the unknown.

That’s what hit me. If I truly believe I serve a God as big as I say I do, why do I crave clarity before obedience? If faith is hope in things unseen, why do I want to see before I move?

God will provide. Just not always in the way I expect or on the timeline I prefer.

So to my friends and family reading this. Take the next step. Whatever you feel God calling you toward, do it. Even if it feels unclear. Especially if it feels scary.

For the first time in nearly a year, the whole family is back together! Since this time last year, my sister @lilliemcq has spent 10 months overseas. In that time she visited 6 countries; Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Ethiopia, and Uganda. Those 10 months she was laying down her comfort, her pride, her ambitions… all to be the light of God to those around her. She is an incredible example of what it means to follow Jesus. Proud brother here 😇

Also in that time, I’ve up and moved my life down to South Africa. What intended to be a trip for a wedding ended up being a life pivot running on faith. Since then I’ve made incredible memories, friends, and an incredible lady @tessaweirsmith.

If there’s anything the McQueen household can testify over the last year, it’s take a leap of faith, trust God, and watch what can happen.
