Almaty Kazakhstan

It all started with a simple “yes” and then I was on a plane to the other side of the planet. The only thing I ever knew of Kazakhstan was from a Sacha Cohen movie. I wasn’t even sure what language they spoke there. It didn’t matter, because I was going to see her. She invited me out to watch Marilyn Manson, who I’ve never seen live before this, before I could even think about it, my mouth said “yes!” Definitely! Manson with her?? Yes please! So off I go, 35 hours of flights and layovers, and a 4 hour wait till I got to see her. Then there she was, my little hurricane, she looked even more captivating in person. I didn’t know what to say, so I just hugged her, so tight, I think she almost popped. Then we said our hellos and off we went. It was the greatest adventure I’ve ever been on. I ate things I never thought I would eat, learned new words, Polaroid pictures, put up stickers, watched a great show, full moon eclipse, as I woke up every morning to her. Oh, they speak Russian in Kazakhstan, aside from Kazakh that is. She took care of everything as I can’t speak either of those languages, oh except for “Blyat!!” Yeah I learned that one quickly lol. Thank you @ksenyaatomka …. For everything, for an amazing adventure and an incredible 4 days. Thank you… te amo hermosa 🖤🫀👁️ “so much” by @maxxer242

A DYNASTY IN THE MAKING

Congrats to the Dodgers on moving on to the #NLCS! Zao One and I were super honored to have had the opportunity to work on this mural for the Hit Factory Los Angeles. Being a fan of baseball and the Los Angeles #Dodgers, this was amazing to work on, to create. So much history in this city, historic moments, and championships. We are in a time where we are witnessing history in the making, the rise of a star like no other. What #Ohtani has already accomplished is amazing. I have a feeling there is so much more to come. Thank you Hit Factory, Zao One, and Ms Niko for making this possible. Hope you all enjoy 🖤 taken in Hit Factory Los Angeles by @maxxer242

"The Day the World Went Away" is Maxx242's ninth release in a new print series we'll be running throughout 2026. - f4dstudios.com

Like all the other prints in the series, it will be a timed sale that goes on for a few days STARTING NOW and ends on Saturday, October 3rd at 11:59pm Pacific. Various Foils will be up for grabs with someone receiving the ultra rare 1 of 1 Gold Foil edition!

Here's some info on the print directly from Maxx:

-- THE DAY THE WORLD WENT AWAY --
I started this piece the way I start a lot of them.. with music. This time it was Ride the Lightning. The imagery began there: death, the bell, Ktulu, electricity, destruction.
But this one took me more than 60 hours to draw, and somewhere along the way the soundtrack changed. I worked my way through The Matrix films, then the Terminator movies, spending hour after hour drawing while watching stories about humanity, technology, machines, and what happens when the things we create begin to challenge us. And it started bleeding into the artwork.

Right now, the art community (and really society as a whole) is in the middle of a strange moment. AI is changing the way we create, work, communicate, and even the way we think about what it means to make something.

Is that good? Is it bad? I don't know.

I'm an artist who spent more than 60 hours drawing this piece by hand, but I'm also fascinated by technology and where it's taking us. I don't think those two things have to be enemies. But the question is becoming harder to ignore:

What happens when the machine becomes more powerful than its creator?

Maybe that's what this piece ultimately became about.

Man versus machine.
Creation versus creator.
Humanity versus its own progress.

Will technology help build our future or will it eventually become our undoing? I don't know the answer. For now, we're still here...

THIS IS HALLOWEEN
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Spooky season is upon us, my friends!

I wanted to create this piece commemorating my favorite holiday, my favorite time of year, and a brilliant story and portrayal of this joyous season.

There is so much I could say about this cultural phenomenon, but I think between Tim Burton and Danny Elfman, they captured it perfectly through the story, imagery, and sounds of Jack and Halloween Town.

My mind was blown when I first saw this film all those years ago. The images, the scenes, the sounds, the music… it was brilliant. Tim Burton definitely influenced so many artists and creators of our generation, myself included. And Danny Elfman truly gave this world its voice. Beyond this film, he remains one of my favorite composers of our time.

So with that said, here is my own portrayal of this story—combined with another upcoming holiday and tradition that has influenced my artwork greatly through the years: Día de los Muertos.

Two worlds that have lived in my imagination and my artwork for a very long time, brought together in one piece. Hope you guys enjoy!

“Boys and girls of every age,
Wouldn’t you like to see something strange?”
