Welcome home.

Most people meet a house around two in the afternoon. Blinds open, lights off, sun doing most of the work.

You’ll meet yours around seven, carrying groceries, dog barking, entire family talking at once.

That’s who we build for.

May Construction builds homes in Nashville and the surrounding areas for families who want a house that functions just as beautiful as it looks. Real materials. Floor plans sized for how a Tuesday morning really gets moved through, not for how it’s listed.

We design in-house via @nativeplans.design, so that the same experts who decide on the plan, work directly with the experts who execute the build.

A new kind of luxury builder for a new kind of luxury buyer. We build extraordinary homes for extraordinary lives.

When you’re ready to build yours, we’re here. 🏗️

A formal dining room, or a scullery off the kitchen?

One gets used twice a year. The other gets used before breakfast.

This is one of the clearest tests of whether a plan was drawn for how a family entertains or for how a family lives. Plenty of people want both, and in the right footprint you can have both. In most footprints, one of them is quietly borrowing space from the other.

Which one is earning its square footage in your house?

Luxury is never loud.

It lives in the details, the gold fixtures, the quiet craftsmanship. Those finishes you reach for every single day.

That is where a home creates its feeling, and earns its name.

Tall ceilings do not make a room feel big. What hangs in them does.

Two stories of empty wall does not read as grand. It reads as unfinished. Height only becomes an asset once something occupies the middle of it, which is why the fixture in a volume space is a structural decision - not entirely a decorative one.

The stair pendant is the harder of the two. It is the only light in a house you see from above, beside, and below. It has to hold up from all three. Get it wrong and you notice it every day on the way up.

Most conversations about a custom home happens towards the end.

Finishes, fixtures, colors, the walkthrough punch list. The part clients enjoy and the builders photograph most. Almost all of it entirely reversible.

The decisions that cannot be undone were made months earlier, in plan review.
Roof pitch. Massing. Where the glass goes and what it faces.
Get those wrong and no finish-package can rescue the house.

We front-load the argument to that stage on purpose. While it may be the harder conversation to have, it's the one that matters the most in the end.

Spend your attention on the permanent things. The rest is will fall in place.

The powder bath is small. It is NOT minor.

It is the one room a guest uses alone. Door shut, nothing else to look at. No furniture to carry it, no view to pull the eye away. Whatever you chose is being read at arm's length.

So it gets a mirror with a shape to it. Brass chosen with purpose. A light worth looking up at.

Most of a house gets judged from the doorway. This one gets studied.

The most consequential decisions in a home are rarely the ones that make the rendering.

A walk-in pantry or a larger primary closet.
More storage or more breathing room.
A few additional feet here, a sacrifice there.

On paper, they’re simply square footage decisions.
In practice, they shape the rituals of everyday life—how the kitchen functions at 7 a.m., where everything has a place, how a home feels when the doors close and the day settles in.

Good design isn’t about fitting more into a plan.
It’s about deciding what deserves the space.

At May Construction, we approach those decisions with the same care as the details you see: balancing proportion, function, flow, and the way a home is actually meant to be lived in.

Because the best floor plans don’t simply look beautiful.

They make living beautifully feel effortless.

The kitchen gets toured the most.
The nook is where you’ll actually live.

Breakfast nook where the morning starts.
The entry where you drop your bags and keys.
That little corner you settle into when nobody’s coming over.

None of those spaces get photographed first.
All of them decide whether the house actually works.

That’s why we plan them with the same intention as the rooms people come to see.

Because a custom home shouldn’t just look right.
It should live right.

When you’re ready to build yours, we’re here.

Nashville and the surrounding areas.
