I know these will all be stories someday. And our pictures will become old photographs. We’ll all become somebody’s Mom or Dad. But right now these moments are not stories. This is happening, I am here… I can see it. This one moment when you know you’re not a sad story. You are alive, and you stand up and see the lights on the buildings and everything that makes you wonder. And you’re listening to that song on that drive with the people you love most in this world. “And everything looks different- as the sun says goodbye.”

I simply could not have asked for a better senior show than Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. Spending the last five years in the ACAA musical theater department has been the greatest gift I’ve received. From my first audition for Company in 8th grade when I walked in with no voice and not much to offer- Mr. Berger found a role for me. Every show since I have learned countless life lessons that have shaped me into the person I am today. I am forever grateful for every person this department has connected me to. From my best friends, to those I no longer talk to as much, every person has had an immense impact in the journey I’ve taken. Mr. Berger and Ms. McNeal have given me a foundation that I will carry for the rest of my life. No matter what was happening in my life or theirs, I could always rely on the predictability and routine they provided. Their selflessness and dedication to my classmates and I is truly astounding. These past few years have been about finding myself and when I look back on my time in high school my memories will be flooded with the time spent in their classes. The stress on a Friday rehearsal, the exhaustion on Monday, the Steve Martin warmup, the smell of hairspray in McNeals room, and so many more core moments that I will truly cherish forever. It has given me my best friends, memories and values. Women on the Verge was without a doubt the most stressful and tear-filled show I’ve ever done, and I would not trade it for anything. I truly think 6th grade Maya would be ecstatic with everything I’ve accomplished and the places I’m going. I thank every single person who has inspired and helped me. Call me back!!!! by @maya._.mac
