crazy to think i literally just picked up a camera one day and somehow it turned into this entire life i never really planned for. the clients, the shoots, the late night edits, getting lowballed, losing opportunities, getting better, starting over, posting everything online and somehow building a whole community from it. i definitely still feel like im figuring it out as i go, but i think thats kind of the whole point. if u need a reminder to KEEP GOING, this is it. by @mayabcfilms

I’ve never really talked about this much but this post is sooo personal to me. For the longest time I had someone really close to me telling me videography wasn’t a real career and that I needed to figure out what I actually wanted to do with my life. And when it’s your own parent saying that, it really does get in your head. I questioned myself way more than I ever showed. But I started posting anyway. People made fun of me, my videos did literally nothing for months, and there was zero proof that any of it was actually going to work. But I kept filming. kept posting. kept trying. And then eventually it did work. And the craziest part is the same kind of people who didn’t get it at first eventually started asking me how I did it. I think that’s why I care so much about showing the process now because I know how it feels to have a vision for your life that nobody else can see yet. If your at this stage RN i feel you done to the bone KEEP GOING SERIOUSLY. by @mayabcfilms

social media is literally just everyone posting their wins so here are some of my Ls lol i’ve lost clients i thought i needed, posted videos i SWORE were gonna do numbers and they flopped, questioned my rates, compared myself to other creatives, and had so many moments where i was like wait… wtf am i actually doing 😭 but weirdly almost every single one of those moments led me somewhere better. and i think that’s the part people don’t talk about enough when you’re trying to make being creative an actual career. you’re figuring out your work, your brand, clients, pricing, social media, literally everything at the same time. which is exactly why i made Made for Creatives. basically the community i wish i had while i was figuring all this shit out. if you’re a creative trying to get better, get seen, and actually make something out of your skills… comment READY and i’ll send it to you 🤝 by @mayabcfilms
