I almost skipped the 6 AM class ⏰ (sound on, glad I didn't)

Alarm at 5:30. Dark, cold, and I was this close to staying in bed.
I went anyway. Empty gym. Just me and my coach.
He smiled: "Then you get every round." No partner to hide behind.
By round 4 I wanted to go home.
Then he stopped the timer: "You came. That's the hard part."
I sat on the bench grinning like an idiot.

The hardest round is getting out of bed 🥊

Rest day = eat less? I used to think so 🍌 (then my Monday class felt awful)

My Sunday rest day now, by the clock:
8:30 AM A big glass of water before anything.
9:30 AM Oats, blueberries, banana and nuts. Same breakfast as a class day.
4:00 PM A banana milkshake.
9:00 PM Yogurt and berries on the couch, after a real dinner.

Rest days are when your body recovers from the week, so I stopped treating them like a diet day. Mondays feel so much lighter now.

My coach yelled the same 2 words at me for 2 months 🥊 (sound on, this one's me telling it)

"Hands up."
Every time I got tired, my hands dropped, and I never even noticed.
At home, nobody yells that. So on my off days I put on a voice that calls my combos, and after every single combo: hands back to my face.
20 minutes a day, for 3 weeks.
Then came Thursday's class. My coach didn't say it once. Not once, the whole class.

Habits you build alone show up when someone's watching.

The scariest thing at my Muay Thai gym 🎃 (sound on, it's not sparring)

Last week my coach pointed at me and said: "Show the class the combo."
Everyone stopped and looked at me. My hands were shaking inside my gloves.
Jab, cross, kick... and I missed the pad completely. Total silence.
Then my coach just said: "Again."
So I did it again, slower. And it landed.
Nobody laughed. Two people clapped.

Scary things are only scary until you do them. Happy Halloween from the gym 🥊

Halloween candy tonight? Yes. 🎃 Muay Thai didn't change that, it changed what comes before.

9:40 AM Breakfast after training: eggs, toast, fruit. No "saving room" for candy.
1:00 PM A real lunch: chicken, avocado, peas.
4:30 PM Fruit and yogurt, so I'm not starving at 9 PM.
7:00 PM A normal dinner: salmon, rice, greens. Not skipped.
9:00 PM Then candy. A few pieces, on a plate, not straight from the bag.

Two months ago I would have skipped meals "to make up for it" and then eaten half the bowl. Eating normally all day is what makes a few pieces feel like enough. Tomorrow is just a normal day, no punishment workout. (Just what works for me as a beginner, not medical or dietary advice.)

Candy on Halloween: a few pieces or the whole bowl? 👇 Happy Halloween!

My 20-minute Saturday Muay Thai session at home, in real time 🥊 (watch what happens at 9:13)

9:00 AM Wraps on, phone on the shelf. No gym, no coach.
9:01 AM Round 1: jab, cross. A voice calls each strike on the beat, so my eyes stay up.
9:09 AM Round 3: faster calls. I stop thinking and just react.
9:13 AM Round 4: it called a combo I forgot. I froze, laughed, kept going.
9:17 AM Round 5: hands up the whole round. First time ever.
9:20 AM Done before breakfast. Zero clock-watching.

5 rounds of 3 minutes with 1-minute breaks, that's the whole session. Small, but it adds up between classes.

Too tired to cook after Muay Thai? 🍱 Friday, 8:40 PM, old me just ordered takeout.

Now Sunday me does the work:
🍚 a big pot of rice
🍗 a tray of chicken
🥦 broccoli and veggies
All packed into boxes for the week.

Friday me just reheats a box: chicken, rice, broccoli, about 5 minutes. Then greek yogurt with berries on the couch. Zero cooking, zero guilt.

It's not fancy, and that's the point: when the food is already there, I actually eat a real dinner after class. (Just what works for me as a beginner, not medical or dietary advice.)

Do you meal prep, or are you a Friday takeout person? 👇 Save this for Sunday.

What I eat on a Muay Thai class day, by the clock 🍌 (desk job till 5, class at 7 PM)

7:15 AM Oats, blueberries, banana, nuts. No 11 AM crash.
12:30 PM Chicken, avocado, peas, cucumber. A real lunch, not a sad desk salad.
4:00 PM A banana + a chocolate milk. This is the one that changed everything: round 2 stopped killing me.
6:45 PM Just water. Small sips, nothing heavy before warm-up.
8:45 PM Salmon, rice and greens. Then bed.

I used to skip the 4 PM snack and wonder why I was gassed by the second round. About 3 hours before class works for me. (Just what works for me as a beginner, not medical advice.)

What's your class-day meal? 👇 Save this for your next training day.

My worst Muay Thai class so far 🥊 (sound on, this one's me talking)

Two weeks ago nothing landed. Every combo felt wrong, and between rounds I caught myself checking my phone, looking for an excuse to leave.

Then my coach walked over and said: "Bad days count double."

So I stayed for one more round. Hands up. Breathe. One clean combo. Just one.

I left smiling. Bad days still don't feel good, but they don't scare me anymore.

What was your worst class? Tell me, I'll go first 👆👇

The last 10 minutes of Muay Thai class, in real time 🥊 (wait for 8:00 PM)

7:50 PM Coach: "One more round." Jab, jab, cross. Arms already heavy.
7:53 PM Kicks, 20 each side. I count out loud so I don't quit at 12.
7:56 PM Burnout: 30 seconds of nonstop punches. Shoulders on fire.
7:59 PM Bell. I can barely stand.
8:00 PM "Good work." The 2 best words in the gym.

Those 10 minutes used to scare me. Now they're the reason I come back.

On home days I can't negotiate with a coach, so FightNome calls my rounds and burnouts out loud and I just keep going (link in bio):

The Muay Thai wins nobody claps for 🥊 (2 months in, my own words)

1. I wrap my own hands now. No more pausing a tutorial at 0:42. That one took me 3 weeks.
2. My hands stay up when I'm tired. Chin down, even in round 3.
3. I stopped saying sorry to my pad holder. Every missed punch used to get an apology.
4. I show up on the days I don't want to.

None of these show in the mirror. Nobody claps for them. I do.

What's a small win you're proud of? Tell me, I'll clap 👏👇

I used to barely eat on rest days 🍳 no class = no food, right? My next class said otherwise.

What a rest day looks like for me now:
🚶‍♀️ A slow walk first. Legs loosen up.
🍳 A real breakfast: eggs, toast, tomatoes. Protein + carbs, no "earning" it.
🥣 Oats with fruit later, and tomorrow's gym bag packed.

Next class? I still had legs in round 3.

Rest days are part of training. Your body rebuilds on them, so I stopped treating them like a diet day. (Just what works for me as a beginner, not medical advice.)

Do you eat less on rest days? Be honest 👇
