I only have one picture of him like this on my phone.

But before Black Santa was easy to find in stores…he was my Daddy. 🥹🎅🏾❤️

Every October, my Daddy would start growing his beard. He had a Santa suit custom made, and when Christmas came around, he became Santa.

He’d visit local churches and even set up at his barbershop so families could bring their children to take pictures with a Santa who looked like them.

And I LOVED it.

I’ve always been a Daddy’s girl, so whatever my Daddy was doing, I was somewhere nearby supporting it. 😂 But this was different. It felt familiar. It felt safe. It felt like Christmas.

The community didn’t quite see it that way yet.

Black Santa was unfamiliar. He looked different from the Santa people were accustomed to seeing, and not everyone understood it. After a few seasons, Daddy stopped.

But our family never forgot.

As the years went on, if we couldn’t find Santas that looked like ours, we painted them. We made them. Or sometimes, we just didn’t have Santa at all.

And now, all these years later, I realize why finding Black Santas every Christmas means so much to me.

It was never just about Christmas décor.

It was familiar.
It was safe.
It was fond.
It was home.

It was Daddy. ❤️

So when y’all see me lose my mind over a Black Santa in the middle of Hobby Lobby 😂 just know there’s a little more to the story.

Before Black Santa became part of my Christmas aesthetic…

Black Santa was my Daddy. 🎅🏾❤️

Because between the ribbon, ornaments, picks, garland, lights, Black Santas, “just one more thing” trips to Hobby Lobby AND the fact that I decorate for a living…sir, this was never going to be a reasonable number. 🤷🏾‍♀️😂

…Tuh! And it’s the first Amazon Prime Deal Day???

Anywayyyyy…while we’re discussing Christmas budgets 👀🎄✨

If YOUR budget includes having somebody else make the magic happen this year, holiday decorating dates are booking NOW!

Residential + Commercial Christmas installs available.

I KNOW y’all love Christmas. But how many of y’all need a little HELP with Christmas?! 😂🎄

Not necessarily “come decorate my whole house” help — although PLEASE know I would happily get my hands on that tree. 👀😂

I mean…

“How do I put ribbon on without fighting for my life?” help.

“Why doesn’t my tree look full?” help.

“I bought all this stuff…now where TF does it go?” help. 😭

THAT kind of help.

So this week, I’m diving into DIY holiday decorating and sharing some of the tricks I use to get that luxe, finished look.

First up: RIBBON. 🎀

Drop your Christmas decorating questions below because I’m building this week’s tutorials around what YOU actually want to know. 👇🏾🎄

Every year. Every Christmas. ❤️🎅🏾

I’ve been trying to figure out how to officially open my Christmas season this year, and honestly…there was only one way that felt right.

With him.

If you ever had the privilege of experiencing Christmas with @thesantablair then you already know. He wasn’t just a man in a custom suit (because HE designed every single suit he owned!). He WAS Christmas. The warmth. The joy. The magic. The way he made every child — and every grown-up — believe for just a little while longer.

My first and only Christmas with him, we had the opportunity to spend nearly 72 straight hours with him across the city of Atlanta, creating memories and capturing moments that I had no idea would become so precious to me.

And now, heading into this Christmas season, remembering he won’t be here…mere words really can’t explain it. 💔

There will be beautiful decorations. There will be ribbon everywhere. There will be trees, ornaments, Black Santas and more Christmas content than y’all probably asked for. 😂 But there will never be another Santa Blair.

So before I create anything new this season, I wanted to honor a little bit of the magic that made Christmas so special for me.

This Christmas — and every Christmas — we’ll remember you. ❤️

🎅🏾 Santa Blair, forever the best Santa there ever was.

POV: I’m on my annual hunt for Black Santa 🎅🏾🎄😂

And when I see him… I’m stopping. Every. Single. Time.

Ornaments, wrapping paper, figurines, mugs, décor — if Santa looks like us, I need to investigate immediately. 😂🤎

One of my favorite parts of Christmas is finding pieces that make the season feel a little more like home. The representation, the nostalgia, the joy of seeing Black Santa tucked into the Christmas aisles just does something to me. 🥹🎄

So consider this the beginning of my Black Santa sightings for the season. 😂🎅🏾

Tell me: WHERE have y’all spotted the good Black Santa finds this year?! 👀 And if your Santa isn’t Black (because not everyone is and I firmly believe in representation that looks like whatever reflects YOU) - then tell me where you’ve located your favorite Santas!

There’s just something about Christmas that I’ll never get tired of. 🥹🎄❤️

It’s the feeling it brings, the memories it holds, and the nostalgia that makes every little detail so special. From the ribbon to the ornaments, every piece tells a story, and I love creating spaces that bring all those feelings to life. ✨

I’m SO looking forward to this Christmas season and all the magic we’re about to create! 🎅🏾❤️

Now, let me ask y’all something… How many of you need a ribbon tutorial to help elevate your Christmas trees this year?! 👀🎀 Because I have a few tricks up my sleeve, and I’m ready to share!

Drop a 🎀 in the comments if you want me to show you how!

Because apparently I don’t know how to just GO TO BED. 😭😂

I had been eyeing the football bell that @sharenalatrese posted and fully intended to BUY one from her because listen…I support paying people for their creativity! 👏🏾

Only problem? She wasn’t selling them (according to the comments), so I watched that tutorial like 10xs 👀

And somehow at 2AM before game day, I convinced myself that meant, “Girl, you can make that.” 😭

So I pulled out the Cricut, gathered what I had, followed her tutorial and made PJ his own custom #21 football bell. 🏈🔔

Was 2AM the appropriate time to start this project? Absolutely not.

Did I finish it?

Obviously. 😂

Shoutout to @sharenalatrese for the original idea + tutorial because THIS sports mama needed it! 🫶🏾

And this is your reminder: sometimes DIY isn’t about inventing something from scratch. Sometimes another creative teaches you something, you give them their flowers, and then you go make it your own. ✨

Last #DIYTea post…frfr! 😂☕️🌸

Y’all had so many questions about Livy’s birthday tea, so let’s wrap this little series up properly:

✨ Where did everything come from?
I shopped @goodwillintl and @dollartree for NEARLY everything you saw. A little vision + a little DIY will take you a long way!

✨ Where was the “event space”?
My Florida room! I intentionally keep it pretty much empty for this exact reason. 😂 Give me a blank room and mind your business.

✨ What about the food?
Cookies came from @goodnsweettreats cake pops came from Dominique (forgive me pls, her business name escapes me right now), and my husband was the chef behind everything else—and babyyyy, the menu was AMAZING. 🤌🏾

✨ What were the favors?
Tea infusers with matching spoons. Simple, useful and perfectly on theme. 🫖

✨ How did we decide who came?
Olivia hand-selected the women she wanted to attend her brunch. She did this once before and apparently now it’s becoming an annual thing. 🥹 I actually love that for her.

Normally, we choose experiences over events for birthdays…but intimate gatherings don’t count. 😂 And y’all know me: there are two things I will ALWAYS do—TOO MUCH. So in my mind, this wasn’t even really an “event.” Because trust me…I can turn it ALL the way up if you let me. 😂

But the real takeaway from all of this?

Make the memories. However you choose. 🤎

Sometimes the things we create for our children end up healing a little piece of the child in us, too. And somewhere between the decorating, laughing, hosting and watching them enjoy it all, we get another opportunity to know them a little better and grow a little closer.

And THAT was my favorite part of the whole thing. 🥹🌸☕️
