This scene went straight from my heart and onto screen. Artists don’t always get the chance to perform on a day to day basis. So finding @rockyourreel and interacting with people that hone in on that need to collaborate, proved to be exactly what I needed in my artistic career. I came to them with a huge ask of playing a character who speaks Hebrew. When I got the green light (without hesitation btw) I wrote the script and refined it with Melissa to make it a peice that both strangers and my own Israeli family would feel excitement from. Yom Kippur is coming up and Rosh Hashana has just ended. I’m so grateful to still have my voice, spirit and hunger as the new year is started.
Here is a clip from a recent audition where I performed Debbie Freidman’s rendition of Mi Chamocha, the song Miriam sang upon crossing the Red Sea. I’m beyond lucky to get the opportunity to perform roles that I needed in my upbringing, and am here to celebrate that, even if it’s just for an audition video.

I had to remove my yellow ribbons, my dog tags, my numbered tape and any sign of jewish (and obviously Israeli) memorabilia over the last few years. It has not been safe. Something that has deflated me on the daily. So i had this bracelet, until it wore down and replaced it on my wedding day when the second deal was brokered.

Now on what is finally October 8th, I can take this off. by @mayamsherer
