I graduate from the Fashion Department at Otis College this weekend, which has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life.

This semester, I spent a lot of time doubting myself, forgetting that at 21, I have already had the opportunity to do so many things including, be a Gucci Changemakers Scholar, be a designer in NYFW & LAFW, be a FSF VAPM Scholar.

Looking back, I realize that what truly distinguishes me as a designer is my proactive approach and determination. Many of my opportunities required ambition, discipline, and perseverance, and I am proud that I followed through even when things became difficult, while still remaining true to myself and my beliefs.

I can’t wait to continue telling stories of people and culture through clothing, and collaborate with talented creatives to bring those ideas to life.

Words can’t fully express my gratitude for being recognized by the @fashionscholarshipfund and the @post_____modern Virgil Abloh Association.

As a Black woman in fashion, I am constantly fighting to advocate for myself and my vision. In my work, I strive for every collection and project to reflect my values and perspective.

I’m especially grateful that “The Moonlight Motive“ was recognized by such a major organization. This collection confronts systemic racism and oppression, queer discrimination, and sustainability, while also pushing toward the democratization of fashion.

Being here wasn’t just about the visibility of my work, it was about connecting with designers and creatives who share these values so we can create meaningful impact together.

I’m happy to announce that I am a recipient of the 2026 Virgil Abloh™ “Post-Modern” Scholarship through @fashionscholarshipfund @post_____modern !

My project was an anonymous submission, and explores a unique collaboration between @christopherjohnrogers and @a24 for a 10th anniversary screening of the film “Moonlight” by Barry Jenkins, based on the original screenplay “In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue” By Tarell Alvin McCraney.

This is first project I’ve done that explores the intersection between race and sexuality. I’m so grateful for @danielpaigestudio for pushing me conceptually throughout the production of this collection. I am so excited to be part of this distinguished group of creatives ! by @mayapeats
