September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. September 11, 2026 marks ten years since my attempt. I still have struggles, I still deal with suicidal depression sometimes, but I am thankful every single day that I’m still alive. I’m thankful every day for my loved ones and the gorgeous, full lives we’re building together 🤍 Life is messy but I love it so much. #suicideawareness by @maybeitsmeej

everything I do, I do it for her 🥹✨grateful to make it to 30, to have accomplished so many of my dreams, and to have learned to honor my inner child no matter where adult responsibilities take me 💞 by @maybeitsmeej

lock in b!tches, it’s the Age of Aquarius and Aries. The stars are calling us all to attention. My 🌝 and ☀️ are highly activated with all the cosmic clusterfũks, I’m laughing and crying in equal amounts, it’s the best of times and the worst of times, and I’ve never felt more stable in my personal brand of chaos. I love life and I can’t wait to finally sleep when I’m dead 😌

What Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome looks like: a good day vs. a difficult day #edsawareness #chronicillness #disability #hypermobileehlersdanlossyndrome #superflexiblenotsuperhuman

My hEDS Story:
•
Being oddly flexible, struggling to sleep, having cyclical migraines and nausea, and creaky, hyperextended joints was just ~my normal~ from ages 7 to 24. In September 2020, I injured my spine in a car accident and I was forced to tumble into a deep rabbit hole of medical issues, old and new. Each step of the way I had to push past people I loved and medical professionals telling me the severe symptoms I had were all in my head. Treating me as annoying and disposable because there weren’t (affordable 🙄 FU american healthcare) easy answers, but I refused to be quiet about my pain and my unusual experiences. I refused to stop doing things for myself when I could because my autonomy mattered.
•
In January 2023, I finally found a team of physicians who paid attention to my physical symptoms and connected many of my chronic issues into a rare cause: Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS). hEDS is one of 13 subtypes of EDS, an under-researched genetic disorder that affects connective tissue (the stuff that holds your body together.) Everyday I learn something new about the way Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome can present throughout each of our body systems: nervous, muscular, skeletal, digestive, vascular…connective tissue is literally everywhere and mine doesn’t know how to do it’s job anywhere. EDS progressively gets worse as you age and accumulate injuries, as another characteristic feature is the diminished ability to heal.
•
I’m learning how to navigate days where I cannot control the movement in my body, I can’t hold my phone or pick up my water bottle, I can barely think or look at any lights. EDS varies in expression and severity, and there is unfortunately so much physicians still do not know or understand. There is currently no cure, and there are very limited treatment options, but still we must live our lives. We need more research, more awareness, and more COMPASSION for people living with chronic pain and illness 🤍 if you got this far, thank you for reading. by @maybeitsmeej
