PARTY ALL THE TIME! Rolling initiative with the best party I could ask for. Turns out the real treasure wasn’t the magical weapons... it was convincing all my friends to cosplay the Dungeons & Dragons ‘80s cartoon with me. If you like nerdy chaos, questionable life choices and people who commit way too hard to a bit... you’ll probably enjoy my comedy shows too - swipe to see. Come say hi this Edinburgh Fringe! @aestheticbooksinplaces as Presto the magician @run_lumpy_run as Hank the ranger @mirosh.cosplay as Eric the cavalier @juliette_burton as Bobby the barbarian AND Diana the acrobat - Bianna (appropriate) @maybleee as Shiela the thief Photo by @bydeebee Who was your favourite character from the cartoon? #DnDCartoon #Cosplay #DragonCon #ComicCon #DnD Cosplayer NerdLife Fantasy Comedy StandUpComedy by @maybleee
not sure what it says about the passing of time, but I didn’t clock today’s date till for some reason I felt the compulsion to check my fb memories, which is not something I do regularly these days.. it’s now been 25 years since my dad died, which is absolutely wild when you frame that as a quarter of a century! I do think it definitely says a lot about the softening of grief. I don’t believe that time heals all wounds (and hell I’ve had my fair share of emotional scurvy), but through intentional effort, an incredible if ever-changing support network, a not-insignificant amount of therapy, and a lot of self-compassion, I do think I have reached a place of peace. I’ve been through so many incarnations of self through these 25 years.. I have loved and lost too many people. I have built resilience I shouldn’t have had to build. I have created and nurtured community and friendship. and I have used the loss and grief in my life to help shape my values and ethics. I have become a kinder, more empathetic person as a result. my final musing for this morning is that it’s important to focus our energy on the present, because at the end of the day no one gets out alive..! by @maybleee
so I shared a reel on my stories the other day and mentioned how starting weightlifting was one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself mentally and physically, and today I feel brave enough to share a photo of myself. I actually started this journey nearly 4.5 years ago, and I have no ‘before’ pics for many reasons. but this isn’t a progress post as much as it is simply a celebration post. I’m proud of my commitment to improving my wellbeing, and I’m proud of the countless obstacles I’ve traversed to get to where I am now. hypermobility, PMDD, and lifting are an unfriendly combo let me tell you and I have cried in the gym soooo many times. I’ve not really ever posted anything about lifting on here because I know how easily I personally get caught up in comparing myself to the people I see on social media, but comparison truly is the thief of joy. sure, I would absolutely love to look buff as fuck, but the fact is that I lift because it makes me happy (and because I like to assert dominance by picking men up and carrying them round like princesses (I also enjoy picking up all other genders but I do not have the same intent to scare or belittle you (unless you’re into that))). needless to say, my primary motivation for posting this (other than obviously it’s nice to receive validation from people I like) is to encourage others to give weightlifting a go! like many, I grew up firmly believing that exercise wasn’t for me because I wasn’t competitive and I hated sport, but when I started picking up heavy things and putting them down again I discovered that endorphins are possible from exercise, I was just looking in all the wrong places for them. I could wax lyrical for pages on this topic, but I’ll run out of characters here in a second.. always here to chat if you’re interested in giving it a go but have absolutely no idea where to start! join the cult 🏋️ ty to @miss_shahnandler_bong for teaching me the ways of the force, keeping me accountable, and always being my biggest cheerleader - I owe you big time! 💪 by @maybleee
our final use of these fantastic glasses.. I turned 1 billion seconds old at some point yesterday! happy metric birthday to me 🎉🍾🎊 @miss_shahnandler_bong and I celebrated by watching @tinygirlbigshow’s NSFW ‘tiny bitch shit show’ with @chloeglowyflowy and @morganhowardmusic - check out their work, it’s awesome! 🎪 by @maybleee
I’ve been horrendously unwell for the past two weeks but we managed to have a lovely little holiday regardless. I really do love doing life with you @miss_shahnandler_bong ♥️ #cornwall #devon #stormamy by @maybleee
@oakwoodthemepark has been one of my favourite places in the world since I was very young, and it absolutely breaks my heart to learn of its closure.. it feels so strange to grieve a place, but in a way I am grieving the loss of a part of my childhood.. I grew up with the park.. fell in love with rollercoasters because of megafobia.. I have formed so many core memories over the many years I have been visiting.. I’m so grateful to have been able to introduce @miss_shahnandler_bong in 2020, and then visit again with @sharnpitt in 2023 and 2024.. I don’t really know how to process how sudden the closure has been.. it would have been so amazing to visit just once more.. I hope megafobia finds a new home at least.. 😔🎢💔 #oakwood #oakwoodthemepark #pembrokeshire #woodenrollercoaster by @maybleee
happy birthday to me 🌟 @miss_shahnandler_bong you’re such a QT 🔥 by @maybleee
This weekend I’ve been on a little solo trip up to Scotland, and as I started walking back into town having descended from Arthur’s Seat I suddenly burst into tears. I feel so unbelievably privileged for so many things right now: for being in a financial position where I can afford to travel; for being physically and mentally able enough not only to travel solo but to push my limits when I’m struggling; for having so many wonderful people in my life who support me - friends I can crash with, friends who have helped me build an itinerary, a partner who took me to and will pick me up from the airport. I got to support my friend @donsbyboondoc in a boxing match (side note: I am now very certain I do not like watching people hit each other even if it’s a sport). I was welcomed by a group of his friends to take part in their TTRPG session at the last minute. And then I got to spend a day exploring a city I’ve always wanted to visit, visiting my best friends’ haunts, and briefly genuinely fearing for my safety as I climbed a small mountain (I agree with RLS) in 50mph winds with a reasonably chonky backpack (particularly grateful for my heavier weight today). Man that first pint after making it back to town was well-earned. And the second… I’m already paying for pushing my body. I’m in pain in way too many ways for the years I’ve been on this earth. I have no idea how I am going to manage to get up for work tomorrow. But I know how lucky I am that I can do this. That I can feel this. I have so many more photos but this is what I have brain space to post today. Thank you for having me, Scotland - you’re fucking beautiful 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏰🍃 by @maybleee
it’s been a damn hot minute since I slapped my face on the main feed but boy have I had a lovely weekend thus far and am feeling all kinds of grateful for it! and my half-dimple is showing in the pic so aren’t y’all lucky for that cuteness! if there’s one thing this year so far has taught me, it’s that you really do just have to ride the wave sometimes and know that eventually it’ll take you back to shore. and who knows, sometimes it’ll bring with it a cool sea turtle or a nice shell. idk. analogies 🐢 cuddle your mates, buy yourself treats, indulge in your hobbies, cherish moments of happiness and connection 🫶 #somerelevanthashtags by @maybleee
I’ve absolutely failed at my plan to post once a month. terribly. evidently I don’t care enough about social media and honestly I couldn’t care less. I wanna post more for my memories, but I don’t wanna post bc the world is in flames and the idea of telling people how great my life is (even when I’m curating the great amongst the shite) is horrifying. I want to post about my holiday but my holiday cost money I only had because of heartbreaking circumstances. I want to share my joy, but I don’t want to flaunt it. It’s really tough to strike that balance. At the end of the day this is my silly little corner of the internet. I know I have an impact in everything I do, but I want to be able to post about myself here. It’s good healing. I rarely like photos of myself but I feel like I look myself in this photo. Happiness, truly. @miss_shahnandler_bong you threateningly wonderful partner in science #sometimeslifegotyou by @maybleee
more holiday pics will follow upon return to reality in a week or so, but in the interest of keeping my promise to myself of posting at least once a month this year I shall grace my grid with a photo of pure happiness. these silly little ice creams take me back to my first trip to disney when I was four years old, with my grandma. nostalgia hits hard, kids. or maybe that’s the sugar… ✨🐁 #mickeyicecreamsandwich 📸 @miss_shahnandler_bong capturing my glee x by @maybleee
this month took an unusual turn last week, to say the least, and it has forced me reflect on years of my existence I’ve not thought about for a lifetime. I’m not going to pretend I’m not struggling, but ultimately it has tipped the spotlight onto all the wonderful people I have in my life 🕯️ and winning another prize at another @molotovjukeboxofficial gig was also an incredible highlight 💃🏼 goodbye, march! #bilighting by @maybleee
