Time for voting in another design challenge @spoonflower and this one is chock full of entries. I found it interesting how many designs were either done in a dark palette or very much abstracted. I went in another direction because to me hydrangeas have a very vintage vibe and offer a sweetness and nostalgia that is charmingly suited to relaxing spaces such as baby nurseries and bathrooms. It's a theme that goes so well with beadboard that I added a suggestive drizzle of stripes to the background. As I expected, this low contrast design is not doing well in the contest, but it is sweet and gentle and just the thing for a cozy, calming room. Head over to Spoonflower and vote for all your faves. Even though this has a ton of entries and you can submit your votes before scrolling through them all, this one kept me engaged for all 17 pages. You might actually escape the so called real world for a bit. And that's so important. Your real world is your inner world. Feed it with what connects you to your joy at being alive. #vintageflorals #nurserywallpaper #bathroomwallpaper by @maycartprintart

Living through the decline of one civilization while wandering among the ruins of former great civilizations... There are multiple theories as to why the kingdom of Tikal collapsed: population increase, climate change due to deforestation, frequent wars, and people fleeing the system having seen beyond the pomp and circumstance of tyrannical kings. Take your pick, but don't limit your thinking to just one and remember these were highly intelligent, creative people that built these cities which included libraries. So much to learn from history, anthropology, and the arts. And a wealth of inspiration from the lush abundance of the jungles that the howler and spider monkeys still call home. Anyway,...buy my designs @spoonflower and make yourself a space that you want to stay in! #wallpaper #pyramids #jungleart #surfacepatterndesigner #tikalart by @maycartprintart

Just a teeny tiny stripe that reads as texture. I love the yellow. I've always loved yellow. But all the colors in this collection make me feel good. I hope you enjoy them, too. I hope you make yourself a cozy, joyful haven. A place to sit and ponder all the absolute perfection that exists beyond the screens and noise. #cozyliving #nurserywallpaper #wallpaperdesigner #monkeyinthejungle #surfacepatterndesigner by @maycartprintart

Want to go for a walk through the jungle? Me, too. I love seeing the plants, the birds, and especially the monkeys. I usually see a lot of fruits, but not bananas! I spend more time indoors than out, however, so some idealized jungle wallpaper and decor would do me good. #junglewallpaper #monkeysandbananas #surfacedesigner #wallpaperdesigner #nurserydesign by @maycartprintart

I am lucky enough to be in a place where the streets are littered with fruits and flowers. A confirmation of my belief in the abundance of this glorious planet and a contrast to the struggles of survival seen across human societies. Time does not change everything, nor does place. Perspective might. So, I keep making art, both for my self and in the hopes that it may spread some beauty and joy into everyday spaces. Because your perspective makes all the difference in your life and I want you to make yourself a home where it feels easy to belong, breathe slowly, and is your getaway. #spoonflowerdesigner #wallpaperdesigner #surfacepatterndesigner #travelingartist #jungletheme by @maycartprintart

Nothing finer than birds in trees! The resplendent quetzal is absolutely adorable and I would love to see one in person. I would also like to see the milky way. So making this design for the current @Spoonflower challenge was a was pure fantasy distraction from the dark fantasies of the humans' creation. If you want to take a break from the world as it is constantly being presented these days, head over to Spoonflower and see countless floral designs in the Chintz Revival challenge. You can drop hearts and vote for all your favorites. If you devote yourself to going through them all, by the end you will have had a nature rest while maintaining your tech addiction! Voting or not, I wish you peace in your heart and the freedom to love the world. #chintzfabric #chintzwallpaper #resplendentquetzal #spoonflowerdesigner #freelancesurfacedesign by @maycartprintart

The Chintz Revival design challenge is on @spoonflower. My design was heavily influenced by the cloud forests of Mesoamerica and features the resplendent quetzal, the national bird of Guatemala. My entry is the is last one shown here, but all these colorways are now available in my shop along with some coordinates. My feed is overrun with news and hype and it is exhausting. My posts don't seem to be seen for a couple days and then minimally. But I am looking for some more beauty in my days and thought you might be, too. Afterall, in spite of the political atmosphere, this planet is overflowing with harmony. I hope you are well and surrounded by kindness, beauty, and truth. #resplendentquetzal #chintzwallpaper #wallpapersale #spoonflowerdesigner #freelancesurfacedesign by @maycartprintart

I've been inspired by Mesoamerica for most of life. I grew up a city kid and as an artist, remain enchanted by the vibrance of city life. So, it is a real treat to be in cities surrounded by such lush life. I hear so many birds every day and it has become a high point of my days to listen to them. I'm not a birder, don't know the names of them all, but the resplendent quetzal is one I would not forget. I've yet to see one, but depictions of them are quite popular in Guatemala. Utz is the Kaqchikel maya word for good in English or bueno in Spanish. The quetzal is the national bird of Guatemala and the name of their currency. More colors in collection. and a separate collection of light, soft, earthy versions. This is the color I entered into the #Chintz Revival design challenge @spoonflower. It is also the design which I began in #TrailingFloralChallenge2026 with @bearbellproductions.

Inspired by the romance of relaxing in faded canvas loungers by the sea, watching the sunset over the horizon. It's available along with a simple straight stripe version and a hand drawn boardwalk. #coastalwallpaper #mcmcalifornia #stripedwallpaper #upholsteryfabric #vintageresort by @maycartprintart
