I have an exciting piece of personal knitting/yarn news! Little ole me was approached by @purlsoho to become an affiliate ☺️😌 Which means I’ve been given a nifty custom url that earns me a commission if you buy some yarn from Purl Soho through it!

I’ve stepped back from every aspect of the business I used to run on here and just share my personal hobbies and makes. Which made the affiliate ask all the sweeter! I wouldn’t have said yes if I wasn’t truly OBSESSED with every yarn I’ve tried from this company. Their woolly ethics and quality products are truly a gift to yarn lovers.

Here are some projects I’ve made with Purl Soho yarns in case you want to make your own!

3. Farnham Sweater by @the_knit_purl_girl using Good Wool in Olive Oil and Heirloom White 💚🤍 Good Wool is SO versatile and I can’t wait to make more with it
4. Bonus: a Lumme Tee by @sari_n_ in the planning stages using Plein Air in Chartreuse Pear and Glass Beach by @poppyandsprucefibers ….do you see the vision!!!!

Happy Pitt finale day I put my Master’s in Library Science to WORK to give you this gift of book recs

This is obviously not an exhaustive list and I had to cut myself off, YES it includes children’s books because if you exclude them you’re missing out on valuable life lessons

@therealnoahwyle I have no earthly idea why you’d ever need a librarian on set but I’d happily be the on-call librarian for your bookish needs by @mayfairefiberart

I finished knitting the upcoming Cosmopolitan Tee by @toriknitsnyc 💜 I think this is my most aesthetically beautiful piece of knitwear I’ve made! The whole design and finished product is just gorgeous and I can’t wait to wear it out and about! I used @purlsoho’s Line Weight yarn which was pretty much like knitting with a cloud and I am obsessed with it 🙂‍↕️

@toriknitsnyc has a new pattern dropping on Friday! The Prospect Tee is a fingering weight DELIGHT that I can’t wait to wear when the weather decides to cooperate 🧡 the texture of this pattern is perfection and I’ll absolutely be making more! I used @purlsoho’s Linen Quill in Red Poppy and I’m a bit obsessed 🙂‍↕️

went to South Africa (the fatherland!!) for the first time since I was 3 🇿🇦😭 had to take a moment to photograph my newest Playdate Tee by @kneedlesandlife using @wooldreamers Mota in 442G! There were African penguins about 100 feet away 🥹

Say hello to the Avenue Pullover by @toriknitsnyc! This pattern is currently in testing and will release next month and I really, really hope knitters fall all over this pattern 😍

It features my new favorite shoulder/sleeve shaping that makes incredible crisp lines on the shoulder area! I find that a lot of drop-shoulders and circular yokes bring attention to broad shoulders (which can be great!!) but is not always what my very broad-shouldered-self is looking for. There are crew neck and v-neck options, too!

This is a DK-weight, quick, staple knit that I already want to make more of!

Gonna paraphrase some Florence + the Machine lyrics to describe how I’ve felt this summer:

Is this how it is
is this how it’s always been?
To exist in the face of suffering and death
and somehow still keep singing (and working and laughing and knitting and reading and being with friends and walking to book clubs and drinking coffee and doing chores and taking walks and watching birds and doing puzzles and gardening and and and.)

There’s a lot of duality in the day to day, reading awful headlines and then having to go about daily life. Music helps. Community helps. Art helps.

To quote my girl Mary Oliver, “Joy is not made to be a crumb.”
