3rd place at Savage Terra Mountain Run 32K! πŸ₯‰β›°οΈ This route hits different. πŸ˜‚ This used to be our playground during the pandemic, so running here brought back A LOT of stories and memories. I swear, I couldn’t even stop talking. Every runner I ended up running side by side with got a random story from the pandemic era. πŸ˜‚ β€œMay nakita ako dati dito na…” β€œTapos one time…” HAHAHA. 35.13 km of mountain suffering, 2,300m+ elevation, and somehow 3rd place. My fitness tracker expected pure suffering, but Kuya Anthony chose hospitality. Set out at 4 AM to chase peak fitness, but bumped into Kuya Anthony. He gave me a blank look like β€œSino ba β€˜to, bakit kilala ako?” before finally recognizing me! FIRST BIKE RACE. 100KM GOAL. MECHANICAL ISSUES ALL THE WAY. STILL GRATEFUL TO FINISH. πŸ˜‚πŸ”₯ ATTCK UNRSTRKTD β€” Pacific Coast 100KM MTB | #535 The course was shortened, but I was still able to complete 90.38 KM in 4:48:07, averaging 18.8 KM/H with 1,111m of elevation gain. Despite the mechanical issues throughout the race, I kept going and finished 19th in my category with an official time of 4:42:03. I trained for a 4–5-hour race. I just didn’t expect to spend so much of it managing problems with the bike. πŸ’€ It wasn’t the perfect race, but I’m thankful I was able to finish and learn from the experience. First bike race. First 100K goal. A lot to improve, but grateful to have crossed that finish line. 🏁πŸ”₯ Nutrition partners: @atlasendurancephilippines @capybarsphilippines @woofleswafflesph @buzzfuelph Gears: @otsophilippines @otsosport @activgearsph @corosph @lbrysports @therunlibrary πŸ“Έ: Ats Mich, Unwritten Miles 5KM IN… πŸŒ΄πŸ’€ A coconut leaf decided to attack my right shoe and knocked the BOA lace loose. I tried putting it back, but I thought the thing was cracked or actually broken. So I just said β€œsige na nga” and continued the race. πŸ˜‚ ONE SHOE DOWN. πŸ˜‚ Since I thought the BOA was broken, I couldn’t properly tighten my right shoe. So I just adapted and started putting more power through my left leg. Not exactly the race strategy I planned. 😀 Then the BOTTOM BRACKET BEARING DIED. 😭 The crank became loose, pedaling felt horrible, and the chainring started chewing into my carbon chainstay. Left around a 2mm-deep scar. 😭 At this point: β€œMAHAL ANG REGISTRATION. WALANG DNF.” Another challenge on the course was nutrition. Some parts seemed to have very little food available at the aid stations, and I saw riders looking around for food and hydration. Or maybe I was just blind and missed them. πŸ˜‚ Either way, good thing I don’t really rely on aid stations. I planned my nutrition for 4–5 hours. 5 hours was the worst-case plan. Sub-4 was the goal if conditions were good. So I brought my own mini convenience store. πŸ˜‚ πŸ’§ 2L hydration πŸ₯€ 4 Γ— 320 cal / 80g carb Atlas Endurance 🚴 500ml bottle β€” 320 cal / 80g carb ⚑ Extra gels 🍫 Energy ba by @mayn.ph
