This month, Chattanooga had the honor of welcoming the 2026 Governor’s Conference on Economic and Community Development — bringing together leaders and community partners from across the state.

You can't talk about Tennessee's success without talking about Chattanooga's success. Here, we are proud of the work being done to create more viable pathways, from early education to keeping the doors open at our Small Business Resource Center. There is always more to be done, and Chattanooga is proud to be a part of the conversation as Tennessee continues to invest in its communities! by @mayortimkelly

Over 20,000 Chattanoogans came out last Saturday for the grand reopening of our beloved Walnut Street Bridge, and we can't stop thinking about it! This is not only one of Chattanooga's major connectors and historic landmarks, but a meeting place for the community.

This major restoration wouldn't have been possible without the time and care of far too many people to name — from crew members who laid steel and wood to our community partners and business owners who adapted to the closures. This bridge is truly a testament of the compassion within our city, continuing to serve you all for another 136 years!

A few days ago, employees of the Goodwill Donation Center on Dodds Avenue heard cries and whimpers coming from a location deep within their building.

In an unfortunate incident, this sweet dog fell into a drainage pipe and became trapped in an inaccessible area.

This afternoon, the City of Chattanooga’s Public Works Department successfully dismantled the surrounding concrete, enabling MAC’s Animal Protection Officers to rescue the animal.

The veterinary team at MAC will provide medical attention to the animal following this traumatic experience. We are optimistic that he will recover and thrive under their care.

The rain certainly didn’t keep us from celebrating 100 years of the Brainerd Golf Course this weekend. Designed by the legendary Donald Ross, this public course has become a municipal treasure, making golf accessible to all Chattanoogans.

For a century, the greens have welcomed our vibrant golf community, witnessing historic tee-offs and unforgettable hole-in-ones. Here’s to 100 more years of recreation, tradition, and sportsmanship! by @mayortimkelly

The Walnut Street Bridge is officially open, Chattanooga! This bridge rightfully holds a special place in many of our hearts; my own great grandfather came to Chattanooga to help build it 136 years ago.

It was an incredibly proud moment to witness everyone come out today to celebrate the restoration of this landmark. To the ones who replaced steel, sandblasted, replaced the wood plank by plank, protected the Tennessee River below, and so much more — thank you. This bridge is now ready to welcome everyone for the next 136 years! by @mayortimkelly

Thank you @EPBchattanooga for having me for the Quantum in Business fireside chat. When we talk about quantum, we're talking about innovation with workforce and economic development at the heart of it. The ever-growing network that quantum has brought us — from partners at Oak Ridge, IonQ, Co.Lab and the Chattanooga Quantum Collaborative to investments in research at UTC and Vanderbilt — is truly changing the playbook of opportunities in Chattanooga. by @mayortimkelly

Thousands of families have built careers at Volkswagen's Enterprise South plant — creating one of Chattanooga's most vital economic anchors. That’s why the success of the Atlas is a Chattanooga success story.

Every single Atlas on the road today carries with it the skill, dedication, and craftsmanship of Chattanooga workers. It was an honor to celebrate that achievement and continued partnership yesterday with the new 2027 model! by @mayortimkelly

While the new paint job of the Walnut Street Bridge is the first thing you might notice, a lot of details and hard work went into the full restoration over the last 18 months! Here's just a little snapshot of what it takes to bring a 136-year-old historic bridge to its original glory.

See everything up close when the bridge reopens on Saturday, Oct. 3. by @mayortimkelly
