Baby Irie 🤍

June 19, 2026 | 6lbs, 15oz. | 21in.

We were so close to bringing you home, just shy of your due date. I catch myself smiling at a pre-birth memory before remembering the future we dreamed of no longer looks the way we imagined. We attended every appointment, took every precaution, and somehow this is the reality we’re facing.

You were so beautiful and perfect. Curly hair just like your dad’s, nose like mines, the warmth of your skin, all features we are holding on so dearly to. Watching your dad learn to hold and dress you, even in our short time together, will always be both a happy and painful memory. We don’t know why this happened and probably never will.

As heartbreaking as this has been, I still believe there is hope ahead. Irie gave us the greatest gift of all, the opportunity to become her mom and dad. She will be laid to rest soon and we will honor her for the rest of our lives.

If you’ve experienced stillbirth, infant loss, pregnancy loss, or the loss of a child, I am so deeply sorry. This is a pain no one should ever feel.

Please know you are not alone. by @mayroquee
