Lately, life has been teaching me something no yoga class ever could.
That surrender isn’t giving up, It’s trusting that not every answer has to arrive today.
Not every phase has to be understood or rushed.

We spend so much of my life doing, fixing, holding or carrying! But time lately has been asking me to soften, receive and notice!
Could be in the warmth of the sun on my skin, the quiet wisdom of the sea, the stillness of a horse or the laughter of my children.
The face of my mother in old photographs..
The ordinary moments that become extraordinary, simply because we were present enough to live them.
This sounds like enough of a peace right?

It’s what finds us the moment we stop wrestling with life and finally let it hold us.

I used to think happiness came from getting what I wanted. Now I think it comes from appreciating what already is.

I used to think strong people never cried. Now I believe strength is allowing yourself to feel without becoming your feelings.

I used to think peace meant having a quiet life. Now I know peace is having a quiet mind in a noisy world.

I used to think confidence meant never doubting yourself. Now I think confidence is moving forward despite the doubt.

I used to think letting go meant giving up. Now I know it’s making room for what truly belongs.

I used to think forgiveness was something you give others. Now I realize it’s something you give yourself.

I used to think love was about finding the right person. Now I think it’s about becoming the right person.

I used to think success would make me feel enough. Now I know feeling enough is what makes success meaningful.

I used to think being understood was the goal. Now I value understanding others even more.

I used to think time heals everything. Now I believe time only reveals what we’re willing to heal.

I used to think that the more I controlled life, the safer I’d feel. Now I know surrender often brings the deepest peace.

I used to think freedom meant doing whatever I wanted. Now I think freedom is no longer being controlled by every thought or emotion.

I used to think my worth depended on what I achieved. Now I know my worth was never something I had to earn.

I used to think life was happening to me. Now I see life has always been happening for me.

I used to think that the people who loved me would never hurt me. Now I understand people can love deeply and still carry wounds that spill onto others.

I used to think that I had to become someone else to be happy. Now I realize my greatest journey has been returning to who I already was.

I used to think the soul grows through certainty. Now I know it grows through curiosity.

I used to think that the hardest seasons were punishments. Now I see many of them were invitations to what’s truly meant for me. by @maysshahwan

The pause is part of the rhythm🪷 by @maysshahwan

So much of life happens in moments we barely notice.

The sunlight finding its way through a window. The way the sky changes colors before the day ends. Rich conversations, the sound of the wind, the comfort of a familiar voice, the silence between two thoughts.

Things we see, hear, and experience every day, yet somehow forget to truly experience.

And I wonder, how much of life have we missed simply because we weren’t paying attention?
That quiet beauty surrounding us all along, waiting for us to notice.

I think there’s a difference between looking and seeing, between hearing and listening, between existing and actually being present.

Maybe a beautiful life isn’t one filled with extraordinary things, maybe it’s an ordinary life, seen through more appreciative eyes. by @maysshahwan
