After Midnight, originally written by JJ Cale but most known in the version of Eric Clapton is a song I got to know as a child , listening to the compilation CD’s of Tour of duty .
All those great songs from the sixties that were used in the series that was broadcasted from 1987 till 1990.
As an 80’s kid I was fascinated by the warm sound of all these songs , the real instruments , the gospel singing , the rawness of the guitars and the soul in the voices .
After Midnight is therefore a song that I know inside out and gives me a warm feeling of sitting in the back of the car, my parents in the front, listening to After Midnight .

This song was a song I really wanted to play with my Magnificent Seven , I knew they would give it the energy it needs and it celebrates the night, what better reason to put on the record we needed ?
It’s a joy to sing and play it live , it brings a smile to everybody’s face and instigates some action like JJ Cale wrote in his lyric .

Karen Willems originally started her ‘Terre Sol’ as a solo project with which the drummer and percussionist, born in Belgium in 1979, wanted to explore and reveal her real and imaginary roots. Her aim was to find music in which she could find herself as a spiritual being as well as a creative artist. She is concerned with the essence of her own work, the perception of her own personality and the further development of jazz as an art of fusing different aesthetics and genres. For the Belgian, jazz is also a communicative form of music that seeks dialogue and discourse in order to discover new things and explore the unknown. This is why Willems has added a ‘Four’ to her ‘Terre Sol’, so that from now on, as a quartet of four, she can set out in search of the essence of contemporary, improvised music and move sure-footedly along the borderline between jazz and improvised music, pop and rock, experimental music and musical avant-garde.
