Lucas Ramirez is entering his seventh season as Head Boys Basketball Coach at Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. Since taking over the program in 2020, he has transformed Saguaro into one of Arizona’s premier programs, leading the Sabercats to multiple state tournament appearances, the school’s first Open Division berth, and establishing a culture centered on player development, academics, and character.

Prior to Saguaro, Ramirez spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Phoenix College, where he gained valuable junior college coaching and recruiting experience in the highly competitive ACCAC. He also coached at North Canyon High School and Horizon High School, helping develop players at every level of the game.

In addition to coaching, Ramirez teaches Social Studies at Saguaro High School and serves on the Executive Board of the Latino Association of Basketball Coaches (LABC). He is the recipient of the NABC Guardian of the Game Award and is actively involved with the National Association of Basketball Coaches, Section 7, and the Salvadoran Basketball Federation. Throughout his career, he has helped more than 100 athletes continue their athletic and professional careers while emphasizing leadership, service, and excellence both on and off the court.

A graduate of Arizona State University, Ramirez is passionate about mentoring young people and believes lasting success is built through daily discipline, meaningful relationships, and a team-first culture. by @mbbsaguaro
