Just a casual evening catwalk!

I’ve had Tom for four months now.

He was abandoned and showed up on my front porch one day. Little did I know, he arrived just before I lost three family members in the span of two weeks.

Looking back, I think God knew we needed each other. So we wouldn’t have to be alone through tough times. Funny how things work out.

Needless to say, Tom is officially my cat now. And while I’ll probably always be a dog person… I’m definitely a Tom person. 🐈

One Year of Homeownership!

I’ve dreamed of owning a home. Not just a house, but a place that was mine. A place where I could plant way too many flowers, start a garden, and slowly fill each room with pieces of a life I was building.

What no one really tells you is that homeownership isn’t just decorating and gardening. It’s climbing onto the roof to patch a hole. It’s fighting two giant roaches with a broom. It’s learning where the water shutoff valve is, sweating your booty off in a hot attic, and realizing there is always another project waiting for you.

But somewhere along the way, those things became part of the dream too.

A house is just a structure when you buy it. A home is something that is built over time. It’s built through a few cuts and bruises, Home Depot runs, asking Chat GPT (and Dad!) and countless small decisions. It’s built through ordinary days that don’t seem important until you look back and realize they were.

Looking through these photos, I see more than projects and progress. I see a year of growth. Not just for the house, but for me. This house has become my home,and so has Savannah!

The truth is, none of this was done alone. It really does take a village.

My parents have poured so much love into this house. My dad fixed my garage doors, tackled electrical and plumbing projects, patched things I didn’t even know needed fixing, and spent hours sweating in my attic during a Southern summer. The work he did isn’t glamorous, and most people will never notice it, but it’s the kind of work that makes a house function. My mom cleaned every cabinet, lined shelves, organized spaces, and somehow made an empty house feel warm and welcoming from the very beginning.

I’m also so thankful for the family and friends who have gifted me Home Depot gift cards for practically every occasion. You all know me way too well.

This year has taught me that a home isn’t defined by perfect floors or finished projects. It’s defined by the people who help you build it, the memories made inside it, and the gratitude you feel every time you walk through the front door.

Joe DiMaggio once said “I want to thank the good Lord for making me a Yankee”

And right now… I just want to thank the good Lord for my family.

These past two months have been heavy, the kind that puts everything into perspective. So this moment, at the end of all the sadness and loss of some dear family members, means the world.

I got to catch my brother on the mound at Yankee Stadium. From me catching for him growing up (and sometimes hating it because my hand would be killing me lol)… to him absolutely striking me out with the nastiest driveway whiffle ball pitches… to Yankee Stadium.

Then getting to play catch with both him and my dad. The same dad who coached us through every sport, every season, every stage of life.

And my mom… always there. Always supporting. Always capturing the moments so we can hold onto them forever.

Life has been a lot lately. But this reminded me exactly what matters most. Thank you God for the blessing of a family you have given to me.

2025: bought my first house, lost my first car, and everything in between!

And the “everything in between”?

Turning a house into a home, going to Chicago like three times for some reason, working hard, having fun, exploring new cities, wandering through nature, and everyone walking away from the accident without a scratch.

While this year ended on a huge plot twist, one thing I know is that God’s plan and protection never wavers. Through it all, His hand is steady. Just hold on because it’s a wonderful life, your greatest gift. Cheers to 2026! by @mbeale_2
