I think we are reading too much into the label of #socialism and not recognizing that a more defining issue was the moral clarity for people being willing to call out the taxpayer funded war crimes in #Gaza committed by #Israel. This is becoming a defining issue for the #democrats and I think regardless of where you are on the political spectrum, you need to realize we cannot continue to condone or align ourselves with any country that has leadership expressing genocidal ideology. taken in New York, New York by @mbergdale

I am proud of who I am and my family story, which like so many American and Jewish heritage stories, is multi-faceted and complex. I will stand tall for everyone in NY12 and I will never walk away from protecting everyone in our community. by @mbergdale

In the past 24 hours I have been attacked with violent rhetoric by people who feel I am feeding antisemitism with my statements condemning the Israeli government’s war crimes while also being attacked by those who are so extreme that they think the very existence of Israel needs to be condemned, which I cannot do in good conscience. There is no pathway to true lasting peace if we cannot see the humanity that exists in others. My policies and proposals seek to find a sustainable peace while condemning the actions of an immoral criminal government that is being funded by US tax dollars. There are approximately 9M Jews in Israel, East Jerusalem and the West Bank, there are approximately 7.5M Muslims and Palestinians living in Israel and Palestine and there are 900K Israelis who are not Jewish, Muslim or Palestinian. There is no pathway to a successful outcome without a vision for a peaceful coexistence of everyone who lives in #israel and #palestine. taken in New York, New York by @mbergdale
