Happy 4th birthday Haleigh Grace!! Oh we can’t believe it’s been four years since the day we laid eyes on you. It was so surreal that you were finally here. It has been a wild and incredible journey to watch you grow and develop into an amazing girl. This birthday has been a little different since you woke up not feeling too well today and mommy is recovering from unexpected eye surgery (a story for another day). Happy birthday to a friend whose presence brings stillness to the heart and allows you to just be…who sits with you in the hard places without judgement or striving…whose innate humor often effortlessly lifts you out of those places…who is fun and yet deep simultaneously…and whose understanding of grace enriches your life as you journey its infinite places together. This is an old picture but my favorite of us. Your friendship since around 2008 has been a divine gift. Our recent visit brought joy and laughter to my heart (cracking up over the “trauma” of growing up in the 70s with some of the heavy duty Little House on the Prairie episodes).😂Love you so much and hope you’re having the best day ever! I never want to take for granted what God has done in making my dreams come true. Sometimes it’s still surreal. I am a mom. The thing is I always was in my heart. So that’s why it feels natural but it is also miraculous. To anyone who is hurting today for any reason, He knows and He cares about you. He has a testimony and story for you that nothing and no one can take away. I had someone say to me years ago that maybe God just didn’t want me to be a mother. The person meant well but I knew that wasn’t true and was a lie. The circumstances can change. Nothing is too hard for the One who loves you. He never withholds from us despite what religion or the world may think. Every time I am tempted with discouragement about something I can now look at this beautiful little girl and know I’m a living testimony of His love.
