If you would have told a younger me I would be sharing this online she would have hidden under the bed.

But someone reminded me at the weekend that this isn’t about me or what makes me comfortable.

Because when the mission is bigger than you it requires you to do things that feel bigger than you…

Thank you for being here.

Because when women come together.

We rise together.

It has been one week since I started posting about my PMDD publicly.

And a familiar voice has shown up.

The same one that comes before my period.

This week she has been telling me that I am making this all up, being dramatic, that it is all in my head and that I have no business speaking about any of this out loud.

So instead of ignoring her, I am giving her the mic.

Because this is the exact voice that keeps so many women stuck in the shame and the suffering they feel around their menstrual cycle.

The one that tells you to stay quiet, stay small and just get on with it.

You see she is not the truth.

But she is also not your enemy.

If every month you feel the same darkness, the same rage, the same pain that seems to come from nowhere and then disappears just as quickly, you are in exactly the right place.

Because there are things you can do.

Real things that work at the level of your nervous system and your subconscious.

That is what we talk about here.

And if this resonates, comment "me" below and I will send you my luteal phase hypnosis to help you through it.

The way you speak about your experience has a direct impact on how you live it.

Your words aren't causing your PMDD - but they are shaping it.

Call it hell week and your brain goes looking for the hell.

Are you guilty of this? 👇

Your words are literally spells. Choose them wisely.

There is a reason you feel the way you feel every single month.

And fighting it, ignoring it, suppressing it, asking what is wrong with me, telling yourself you are broken, none of it changes it. It just makes it louder.

But this does.

Instead of asking why am I like this, start asking what is this trying to show me.

That single shift changes everything. Because the moment you stop treating your symptoms as evidence that something is fundamentally wrong with you, and start treating them as messages your body is trying to get through to you, something releases.

The emotions are no longer something to fight. They are something to work with.

The rage, the grief, the darkness. They stop being proof of your brokenness and start being information about exactly what needs your attention. What has been suppressed. What is finally ready to be released.

And here is the thing about a body that feels heard.

It stops needing to shout.

If this is your every month, follow along because this is exactly what we talk about here.

Your PMDD food guide by phase of your cycle.

Some scientists believe your gut is actually your first brain.

It produces 95% of your serotonin, communicates directly with your nervous system, and responds to every hormonal shift in your cycle.

Swipe for what to eat in each phase to support your nervous system, your hormones and your cycle from the inside out.

Three beliefs my subconscious was running that were driving my PMDD.

1. That showing emotions was unsafe.

Somewhere in my childhood I learned that it was not safe to let people see what was happening inside of me. So my nervous system learned to suppress them.

But when luteal arrived, when my defenses came down and emotions surfaced anyway - my nervous system treated them as a threat that I couldn’t get away from. And when that would happen - my body would shut down and dissociate.

Every month my body was trying to protect me from my own emotions.

2. That being a woman was a weakness.

Somewhere along the way I had absorbed the message that the parts of me that were cyclical, emotional, hormonal, soft, were things to be hidden.

I did not want to be seen as someone who was affected by her hormones. I subconsciously wanted to hide every part of me that showed I was a woman.

And my body, knowing this, treated the most feminine thing it did every month as something to be ashamed of.

Luteal was not just a hormonal shift. It was a confrontation with everything I had been taught to disown about myself.

3.That feeling rage meant something was wrong with me.

Now only was the rage inconvenient and uncomfortable. But I also took it as evidence that something was wrong with me. That I was broken in some way.

So every time rage surfaced in luteal, my nervous system did not just feel the rage. It felt the rage and then immediately felt the terror and shame of what the rage meant about me.

Two emotional responses in conflict with one another, each one trying to suppress the other
—
My logical mind didn’t know that I believed any of this but my subconscious mind had been running off of these programmes my entire life.

And they made complete sense at the time considering what I had experienced. But they were no longer true. And my nervous system had never been taught that.

When I made the subconscious conscious, worked with them and released them at the root - everything shifted.

Your brain is not trying to make your life harder - it is just running off of an old programme.

It is time to update it.

Most of what you have been offered for PMDD is management.

Track your cycle. Take the supplements. Try the birth control. Adjust your diet. Reduce your stress. Come back next month if it is still bad.

And you do all of it.

Because you are desperate for it to be different. And some of it helps, a little, sometimes, for a while.

But every month she still comes back.

And the cruel part is that nobody tells you why.

Nobody explains that everything you have been given is designed to reduce the volume of your symptoms, not address what is causing them.

That there is a fundamental difference between turning down the dial on your experience every month and actually changing what is driving it.

So you keep managing.

And the management gets more elaborate.

And luteal keeps coming back just as loud, or louder, because the thing underneath it has never been touched.

Here is what nobody taught you.

Your PMDD symptoms are not the problem.

They are the signal.

They are your nervous system's learned response to a hormonal shift, a response built from everything you have experienced, everything you absorbed, everything that taught your body it needed to stay on high alert to keep you safe.

Managing symptoms works on the signal.

Healing the root works on the nervous system pattern that is generating it.

And those are not the same thing.

When you work at the root, through the subconscious mind and the nervous system, you are not turning down the dial.

You are changing what the dial is connected to.

You are teaching your brain that the danger has passed.

That it no longer needs to react this way.

That the survival mechanism it built to protect you is no longer necessary.

And when that shift happens, luteal does not feel like something to survive anymore.

That is the difference between management and healing. And it is the difference between doing this forever and actually changing it.

Follow along because this is exactly what we talk about here.

And if you are ready to stop managing and start healing, my details are in the bio.

1. You have a nervous system that feels everything.

Your sensitivity is a depth of emotional processing that most people never access. The same nervous system that makes luteal feel unbearable is the one that makes you extraordinarily attuned to others, to energy, to what is true beneath the surface of things.

You are nott “too sensitive”. You are under-resourced for the sensitivity that you carry.

2. You are here to break generational trauma.

The patterns surfacing in your luteal phase did not begin with you. The hypervigilance, the emotional flooding, the survival responses that feel so outsized for the moment you are actually in, many of them were handed down.

Through your mother's nervous system. Through her mother's silence. Through generations of women who were never given permission to feel, to rest, to need.

3. You are being asked to stop abandoning yourself.

PMDD is loudest in the women who have learned most thoroughly to put themselves last. Every month it surfaces in direct proportion to how much you have been ignoring your own needs, silencing your own voice, being available for everyone and everything except yourself.

4. You have access to information most women never receive.

Your luteal phase strips away the defences that allow most people to stay comfortable and unaware. Every single month you are handed a map of exactly where you are not yet free.

That can become your superpower once you know how to read it.

5. You are wired for transformation, not maintenance.

You cannot coast. Your cycle will not allow it. Every month something surfaces that demands attention and change. You were not built for a quiet, unexamined life.

You were built to go deep.

6. You have more capacity for healing than you have been told.

The same sensitivity that makes your nervous system reactive also makes it highly responsive to the right work. Women with heightened nervous system sensitivity tend to respond to somatic and subconscious healing more deeply.

You are not harder to heal. You are more available to it.

Save this for the next time luteal arrives and you forget any of this is true.

PMDD is a sensitivity in the way your brain and nervous system have learned to react to your hormones.

But what lies at the root of that sensitivity?

Well your brain adapted.

To everything you experienced. Everything you were never given the space to process or express:

- The trauma, big and small.
- The hypervigilance.
- The people pleasing.
- The perfectionism.
- Your self worth.
- The nervous system that never learned it was safe to rest.

All of it becomes kindling.

And every month when your hormones shift and your defences come down, your body throws it all into the fire.

The grief. The rage. The anxiety. The intrusive thoughts. The depression. The certainty that everything is wrong.

That is not your hormones causing chaos. It is everything unprocessed finally finding a way through.

And here is what cognitive hypnotherapy does.

It goes to the root. Not to the fire, but to the kindling.

To where the patterns first formed.

To the moments a younger version of you decided the world worked a certain way and built her whole nervous system around surviving it.

And it releases it there.

So that when your hormones shift and your defences come down, there is nothing left to ignite.

The shift is still there. The hormones still change. But the reaction is different. Because the fuel is gone.

That is what healing actually looks like.

Not managing the fire every month.

Removing what was feeding it.

Save this if it made something click.

And follow along because this is exactly what we talk about here.
