There's a moment at the end of every trip when we flip back through the travel journal pages.

Six days worth of color, pattern, texture. Marks that started as something observed, experienced, and ended up as something else entirely. That's what mixed media does — it finds its own way.

Nobody arrives at the same page twice here, even working from the same landscape.
This is why we do this.

The Blue Walk. Journeys worth journaling. 💙

Portugal wrapped a couple of days ago, and the group chat is still going.😍

That's usually how you know a trip worked, not the photos, the fact that nobody wants to leave the group chat.

This group also worked with Mary Beth Shaw all week and came home with some of the boldest mixed media pieces we've seen from a Portugal trip.

New memories. That's The Blue Walk. 💙

@mbshaw thank you!!

A first look at where our Portugal group has been!💙

Tile fronted streets, a mixed-media session with materials collected, created, and shared, a market morning, sunset from the cliffs that stopped the whole group mid sentence.

Who would you bring on this one?

Grittier images from Setubal. I’ve always found inspiration and beauty in delicate decay, grungy colors and contrasts between organization and mayhem. I’ve been looking for it.

I needed something quick.
Only had a paper pad from the dollar store.
But my Baby Gelli came to the rescue with super wet Gouache and Watercolor.
Baby Gelli is a helper.
