🔥The Cairns Music Industry Gathering 2025 (7–9 November) reaffirmed its status as a leading regional forum for music networking, collaboration, and industry development.

Hosted at the Tanks Arts Centre and supported by the Live Music Office, the three-day event brought together musicians, industry professionals, and creative leaders to explore opportunities, challenges, and pathways for strengthening the Cairns music ecosystem. 🌱

Through discussions, workshops, and the City Sounds showcase, attendees focused on sustainability, industry growth, and the evolving needs of the live music sector.

Key sessions included insights from the Live Music Office’s recent Live Music Census and a proposed Live Music Framework, which offered valuable data and a draft vision statement for participants to refine. A standout First Nations discussion explored creating a Cairns First Nations Music Hub to support Indigenous artists and elevate cultural representation. The weekend also emphasized future planning, inviting attendees to shape the direction of the Gathering itself, while youth workshops by THE PUSH helped empower emerging creatives entering the industry. 🔥🔥🔥

Described by many as a “Mini-BIGSOUND,” (a nod to our state’s largest annual Music Forum) this year’s event showcased exceptional regional talent at ‘City Sounds’ and strong collaborative energy with music industry. The Gathering reinforced Cairns’ reputation as a thriving creative hub and highlighted the power of collective vision in building a sustainable future for live original music across Far North Queensland.
