Congratulations to our talented dancers on their fantastic achievements at this Sydney Eisteddfod season! 👏🩰A special congratulations to Oliver, who has been selected as one of just eight finalists for the prestigious 2026 Sydney Eisteddfod Junior Ballet Scholarship. What an incredible accomplishment! Today marks 100 days of school for our kindergartners! 🎉To celebrate, our students made colourful cupcakes and enjoyed tea and biscuits together — a perfect way to mark this special milestone. After New York, our students boarded their flight to Los Angeles and kicked off the West Coast leg of the tour with a sightseeing day across the city. Stops included the iconic Farmers Market for lunch, a walk through Rodeo Drive, and time in Hollywood before heading to Anaheim for our stay at the Desert Palms Hotel.Dinner was at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. in the Anaheim GardenWalk, where students enjoyed a relaxed evening with options to shop, bowl, see a movie, or wind down back at the hotel.The next day was all about Disney magic. With Park Hopper passes in hand, students spent the full day exploring Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, enjoying rides, entertainment, and attractions from morning to night.On Saturday, after breakfast and hotel checkout, the group travelled to Universal Studios for the famous tram tour through the front and back lots, live action shows, more rides, and a visit to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Over the Term 1 break, our students embarked on the adventure of a lifetime, travelling to New York and Los Angeles for an incredible blend of performance, education, culture and fun.In New York City, students immersed themselves in the heart of the performing arts industry through a series of exclusive workshops with leading institutions including The Acting Studio, Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, Stella Adler Studio of Acting, Steps on Broadway, and the Roundabout Theatre Company. They also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look at the world-renowned Juilliard School.The group experienced the very best of Broadway, attending productions of Dog Day Afternoon, The Lost Boys, The Great Gatsby, and Death of a Salesman, while also soaking up the city's iconic sights including the 9/11 Memorial Museum, The High Line, NBC Studios, Radio City Music Hall, SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, and the Museum of Broadway.Of course, not everything went exactly to plan — but sometimes the unexpected creates the best memories! When a Yankees game was rained out, students embraced the New York theatre spirit by heading to the TKTS booth in Times Square and choosing their own matinee performances. Another tour highlight was a city-wide New York Scavenger Hunt, where teams completed a series of creative challenges, from performing Shakespeare in public and recreating famous theatrical scenes, to persuading New Yorkers to deliver iconic movie lines....#NewYork #SchoolTrip #SydneySchools #SchoolLife #TheMcDonaldCollege by @mcdonaldcollege

A huge round of applause to Nina, who was awarded 1st Place in the Contemporary Vocal Performance (18 Years & Under) category at the Sydney Eisteddfod last week!Competitors were required to perform two contrasting pieces, with entries spanning contemporary and musical theatre genres. Last week, our Dance stream took a day trip to the Sydney Opera House to watch Engine, by Sydney Dance Company. Students were fully engaged throughout the performance, taking in the movement, staging and ideas explored on stage. It was a great chance to see professional dance in action and connect what they’ve been learning in class to a live production. It is the last day of Term and our school was in filled with green and gold colours as our students cheered for the Socceroos at lunch. The game might have ended in a draw, but it inspired the players inside our students, who took it to the quad for a end-of-term soccer tournament.Well done to everyone who played and got into the spirit of the game!
