POSTS STORIES REELS

Aug 11 2026. Yesterday I turned 40 which is hard to believe. Had a few people ask how the day was so here’s a little play by play. Started the day with surprise balloons and cards. Ran into a badger! Hoping that some sort of good luck sign. Went and worked out with @lucasdoney, @plee212 and @carlos_gibson88. Got strapped in and took a dose of radiation. Headed to get a blood draw before getting hooked up and doing a round of chemo. The last photos are the party @marliljenquist threw for me the day before, I’m no fun after chemo! The pics don’t show the amazing food and drinks and decorations her and @mdad14 had for me and family and friends. If you would have asked me 4 months ago what I had planned for my 40th it would have told you I’d be in Bali. I’m grateful to be getting the care that will give me the opportunity to celebrate many more birthdays. Thank you everyone who messaged me, called me! Those messages keep me moving forward. Much love Jerm by @mcdougle86

Last Thursday @shepwolz @lucasdoney @davidmichaelholland put on a fundraiser event that brought together so many hairdressers from all over Utah and even a few surprise out of staters. We had no idea how many people would come and we were shocked and humbled to have a sold out standing room only class. Every step of the way I am continually humbled by the love and support I receive! This was such an amazing event that brought so many people from the early parts of my career up to the present day. I have always been one who loves hairdressing events because of the community aspect of it, but when it’s one on your behalf it’s such a special feeling. So thank you to everyone who made it, who donated and who shared and reposted. It was a night I’ll relive As many of you know I’m not the best at updating,
So here we go! I’ve spent the last 10 weeks on and off of chemo and it has been a roller coaster I wish I could get off but the harness is clicked and we’re in it! I’ve had days I’ve felt good I’ve had days I’ve felt horrible. But just like day one I’ve had endless support and I genuinely believe that support has created a shift that has given me the ability to face each day. I have been lucky enough to be able to work most days. I’ve had the opportunity to spend time with my family and friends. I’ve had countless phone calls and texts and each one of these have made a positive impact on this journey. A journey that seems to be working. Tuesday July 21 I had the results of my first scan reviewed by my medical team and the tumor has shrunk. Every one of them is impressed with how the treatment is working. We’re don’t done yet though. I start the next phase on Aug 10th. We add radiation along with a smaller dose chemo. From the I understand the radiation part will be rough due to the location and I should expect some less than desirable side effects. But that’s what they said with chemo and we made it through the bulk of that. From the beginning of this the mantra has been “the only way out is through.” And that will continue to be the quote we’ll live by until we get to ring the bell. I am so grateful to everyone who has helped along this journey! I love you all. by @mcdougle86

Three of the industry’s best which happen to be My friends are putting on a cutting class! Come spend the evening with us in one of the best salons in the country with three of the best hair cutters. by @mcdougle86

Today I start my second round of chemotherapy. Each round is 21 days, so we made it through one of those! The first day of the round is the bigger day. I take two different chemotherapies. I’m in an infusion center for four hours. It allows for a lot of reflection. This whole experience has been such a crazy one. I’ve had so many emotions and feelings that I’ll spare y’all from except one.. that being gratitude. I have always had people in my corner! My family has always been such a huge support system for me in everything I’ve done. My friend group has always been there for me in every aspect of my life and my clients that have become friends have supported me in every business endeavors and wild life experiences . So again I’ve always known that I have had a support, but I’ve never realized how deep and wide that support really went until this cancer diagnosis. This realization has been a game changer in how I have looked at this diagnosis. I was terrified and so sad when I was first diagnosed and to be honest i felt very alone. That didn’t last long support came flooding in from all parts of my life and it changed everything. I felt empowered, I felt strong and I felt ready to take on whatever this has in store. I still have moments of fear and sadness but they are less and often interrupted from a text or call or message on social media. So with extreme gratitude I say thank you to each and every one of you who have helped me during this season of my life. Looking forward to ringing the bell in the near future! by @mcdougle86

Well here we go! A quick summary of what’s been happening in my life the last month. After a few month of what I thought was a pinched nerve and 3 months of constant headaches I was diagnosed with stage 3 nasopharyngeal carcinoma. From finding the mass on may 5 to starting chemo exactly one month later we are in it! I have had tons of dr appointments and scans and have we have an aggressive plan that will take place over the next few months in hopes of getting rid of this damn thing. Over the past month I have spent hours contemplating every aspect of my life and what I’ve come up with is I am GRATEFUL. I have always had people in my corner no matter what I’ve done. I thought I knew that, but this last month I’ve really come to know that. I have had the support of my family, friends and clients in a way I could have never imagined. I will update more in the future but just wanted to to say I am grateful for every call, text, flower, shirt, support and all the ways everyone has shown up for me the last month. The slogan “ring the bell” is gonna be anthem for this journey. Cancer patients ring the bell at the end of their treatment and I have every intention to do so! Again I’ll update more soon I just wanted to say thank you! Much love Jerm by @mcdougle86

Here is my entry for the @randco color contest!
•
After a thorough consultation with Stephanie, we decided to shift her virgin hair to a beautiful lived in color.
•
I started with creating four segments from the front hairline to the nape, and then the crown to behind the ear. Starting with a diagonal section I weaved, backcombed and feathered R+Color Chairlift with 10 vol. I continued doing this on both sides until I reached the occipital bone. I was left with an upside down triangle that I split, followed by a tradition weave and a tip out directly underneath until the crown was reached. The developer was then increased to 15 volume and worked diagonally back in sections to the recession, and then diagonal back sections at the front hairline. Once the hairline was foiled I repeated the same foiling process on the opposite side, but increased to the lightener to 20 volume. I then pulled the remaining hair forward to a stationary point to create a soft transition from front to back.
•
The hair was then rinsed and rough dried to ensure maximum coverage from the R+Color demi permanent colors. We sectioned the hair back into our four panels. We used equal parts 9.0-N French Vanilla + 9.03 NG Quicksand and colored up to the crown. Then mixed 7.0 N Haystack to root tap the front hairline and then used (3/4) 10.0 N Icicle + (1/4) 9.81 PA Fog over the hair in front of the crown. Let process for the full time.
•
We then shampooed and conditioned using R+Co Television and prepped the wet hair with Candy Stripe, Chiffon and Zig Zag. We blew the hair dry using both paddle, and round brushes.
•
The final product was then curled and finished using Outer Space and Balloon for texture.

Q1: See-thru black. The reason I called it this is I wanted to give the illusion of the hair being so blonde, almost see through and having the black color to be strong and bold.
Q2: The cutting technique I used for cutting this haircut was a triangular graduation. Setting the length to enhance the jawline and bring focus to the models lips. Once I cut I styled using a flat wrap technique making sure to stretch the root to create no volume.
Q3: Used a lightener and foils to create a clean canvas, this is the most important thing when the end goal is a level 10. Any inconsistencies would result in spotty and uneven color. The goal was a soft pearly, clean cool tone that wouldn’t clash with the rich dark black color.
Q4:Product/Technique I started with purifying the hair using PowderPlex white and water the strip impurities at the shampoo bowl. Then blowdried and lightened the hair using a platinum card technique. I used Goldwell SilkLift Lightener. I started in the back using 30g of 10 vol lightener plus 2g of PowderPlex white mixed in, leaving a quarter inch from the scalp. I increase the volume of lightener in 5 vol increments ending with 25 vol. Every bowl of color had 2g of PowderPlex White in it. Then once all the ends were level 9 I removed foils and tapped the root with a 20 vol lightener, shampooed then rinsed and used a mixture of water, 2 grams of PowderPlex white and PowderPlex CMC. Rinsed, conditioned, and blowdried. I sectioned thin vertical sections and applied Redken Shades EQ 2b in foils, Wrapped cotton around the base of the foils to prevent color contamination. Then toned on dry hair with 10g of 9n + 6g of 9p+ 4g of 9t + 20 grams of 9v Redken Shades EQ.
Q5: Finishing and refining are some of the most important elements to a great cut and color
Q6: Make up was meant to be simple and clean and focus on the jaw and lips. Wardrobe also simple and black to accentuate the black in the hair.
Q7: This photo was created to show the the discipline needed to create simplicity. There is no easy way to create precision in any aspect of art.
