He’s teaching them- and he’s the best! They’re getting so much out of this. There will be so much heart behind the roots of this ranch!

Did you see our Timber Bends be put up for our all wood barn from @timberlynegroup - check it out if you missed that!

1 more thing down! So many more to go! Did you see our timber bents for our wood barn? We need to share more on that!

We were super excited for this one! We found a shop in Austin called SouthWest Trading post that we got the saw milled pillar. It looks awesome!

this looks too easy- because what happened before this…. That post is coming up next 🫣🥵

Building our ranch from scratch in Texas Hill Country means things can never just go as planned and be easy. The ground is loaded in thick limestone rocks or should we say sheets of rock.

It’s getting hot in here! Or should we say- it’s gotten hot in here! I don’t even think the washing machine is washing clothes anymore.

Laundry tips are appreciated 🤣

PS- we found some good minerals to put in our waters if you’re interested. We’ve got flavored and unflavored - both a little different!

Each step- brings us closer to what we are building. But the most powerful step- is what these boys will take away from it all when they have their own family one day.

Starting a new ranch means being picky and knowing what I need. It also means - the horse trailer is used as a tack room and hay shed while we build other things for that.

There’s so many options - between a stock trailer to a regular ol’ horse trailer - I’ve done a lot of researching and looking for something that will hold its value.

I’m MINDBLOWN how hard it is to find trailers that don’t feel like a fraudulent transaction. One site even told me to just “add to cart”

As I was researching something stood out at me (and no this is not sponsored) - I could find so many brands of trailers fairly easy- but a HART trailer- I could not (not a used one) I barely could find a HART trailer- why? Because people love them and they hold their value!

They hold up so nicely- their value stayed strong- I was impressed with the safety stories I read and even when I’d find other older trailers (that were already sold) they still looked so good!

So- if you see one holla - finding one online isn’t easy and I’m trying to find a used one for price reasons. I need a 3 horse - bumper pull.

The first and second bent always take the longest as far as setting in place and making sure they’re anchored right and the rest goes from there.

The crane operator was so patient and knew a head of time it was just going to be a dad and his boys doing this. We fed him and make sure he was taken care of too and overall- even with a few hard things, it was so rewarding to see these go up!

@timberlynegroup is who we chose to work with on this. They bring the pieces already cut and holes or cut outs in them to best fit - it’s like big boy Lincoln logs- (still time consuming) but it’s nice having that part done.

Now onto the sides

From March to August in under 1 minute. There’s been so much to do when you’re building from scratch. Especially when you involve animals in it before you’re fully done with things.

But we wouldn’t have it any other way! So grateful!

Yesterday we shared how long each whole took to dig in Texas Hill Country where the limestone is THICK and it is not an easy whole to dig. Well- now we have 20 ft steel posts (5 ft in the whole 15ft above the ground) that are going in

It was a long day- but very rewarding getting to see the ranch come alive at the entry.

One of our goals with all of this is the boys getting hands on education in building. They work really hard and it’s rewarding for us all seeing this take place.

Building a ranch from scratch in Texas Hill country doesn’t always go as planned. Never did we think it would take this long to drill one hole but alone many more.

To see more of the ranch being built from scratch, make sure you follow along on what we document and don’t forget to say hi.
