Join us Tuesday, Jan 20 for a virtual conversation with all six artists of Radial Survey Vol.4. As we look forward to this thoughtful exchange, let’s learn more about each artist!

McNair Evans (@mcnairevans) is an artist, lecturer, and photographer who, for ten years, traveled across the United States on the Amtrak rail system, exchanging stories with people he met. McNair writes:

“From their inception and race across North America, to the promotion of manifest destiny and civil rights, trains have fundamentally shaped what it means to be American. This project explores that search for something just out of reach and a bit intangible. It’s about the desire for change and the possibility of hope fulfilled.

Collaboration was essential. I carried composition journals where passengers shared their reasons for travel. Individually, the stories describe connection, desire for something to happen, or a situation to rectify. Collectively, they sketch a national psyche.”

Wishing everyone a joyful day filled with family, friends and lots of food!

This year we are so thankful to be part of this wonderful, resilient community. Through the hardship we have seen the people of Western North Carolina come together as one to rebuild all that was lost. We are also thankful for the first responders, volunteers and workers who got us through the first weeks after the storm.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It is always an honor to be published by @nytimes and to accompany Margaret’s beautiful writing, “...in winter I am filled with tenderness for the foolish and the broken…The earth is resting, and I am in need of rest, too. In winter, I feel at home in the silences of the world.” Prints available @euqinomgallery + @traceymorgangallery. Commissions available via @familyartistmanagement by @mcnairevans

I’ve always been drawn to water, and for the past 15 years or so I’ve lived by the ocean. Now I’m back in a river and loving this new front yard. #jamesriverparksystem by @mcnairevans
