ʜᴇʟʟᴏ ғʀɪᴇɴᴅs!

If you are new to my page or have been following along for a while…I just wanted to say, “Thank you!” 🙏💙

My name is Stephanie and I wanted to make a very special announcement. We are having a…

hard time not sharing our book that’s due soon!!

Don’t be surprised if you see me around the state of Maine cradling this advance copy of SPACE GIRL: An Astronaut’s Dream Takes Flight written by @suzannebuzbyhersey, illustrated by @almainbalgigibousidan, & designed by @emilyhouse.design 💫🚀🌖

💫🌟The release date is September 1, 2026 and published by my company @mcseabooks 💙📚🌊

Here’s a beautiful review by a fellow Mainer:

“My heart soared while reading this book! SPACE GIRL is a wonder, a delight, and destined to inspire readers to follow that distant star. With eloquent prose and dazzling artwork, this tale of one woman’s curiosity and courage also pays deep respect to the natural world - both terrestrial and extra-terrestrial. The author’s note is beautifully complimented with several pages of informative back matter and a bibliography. A glorious, inventive, and generous celebration of Jessica Meir’s life, and the childhood dreams she made come true. Surely a book for all future explorers!”

Guess what?! This OldLympian is drawing THE OLYMPIAN!! 🥇I am thrilled to be illustrating a picture book bio about women’s distance running legend, Joan Benoit Samuelson! I suggest you find a video of the 1984 Women’s Olympic Marathon on YouTube and watch the end of the race when Joan enters the LA Memorial Coliseum and takes her final lap around the track to victory… the first-ever, for a woman, in the Olympic marathon. Joan looks so small on the track in the gigantic stadium and alongside the towering stands bursting with people, but her Olympic win is just one of MANY accomplishments that make her a *giant* in the sport and a generous human being.

After researching so much about Joan, I’m sure she would want me to acknowledge the women who came before her and paved the way for this victory – women like Bobbi Gibb, Kathrine Switzer, and Nina Kuscsik, who just recently passed away.

The beautiful manuscript for BOLD JOAN was written by @suzannebuzbyhersey and the book will be published by @stephymully at @mcseabooks . These proud Mainers cannot wait to tell the story of their fellow hometown hero, Joan, who is still putting in the miles!!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I combined my artistic practice with my running through my on-again/off-again personal project, View From My Run. You may also remember that I started running later in life (age 39 to be exact). Three marathons, 11 half marathons, and countless other races later, running has given me confidence, discipline, health, strength, and friendship. I’ve been able to share my running-art with others and help them make their own. Running has given me challenges to set and goals to reach for. Running has taught me to be BOLD, just like Joan in Suzanne’s book title.

It is not lost on me what a perfect gift it is that Steph found me to draw this book. “We wanted an illustrator who was also a runner,” she said.

I can’t wait to share more. YAY!!!!!! And thank you, as always, to Agent Lori @lkliterary ❤️ #viewfrommyrun @nyrr by @mcseabooks

GIVEAWAY Alert! 📢 (Now Closed: We had a winner! 🚀)

🌟 🌟 She reached for the stars... 🌟 🌟

Space Girl: An Astronaut's Dream Takes Flight is the story of Jessica Meir's journey to space. From a young age, Jessica dreamed of becoming an astronaut. Inspired by one young sparrow learning to fly in her Maine backyard, she began to pursue her dreams as a child. She learned all she could about the the universe, took all of the science classes she could in college, and eventually landed a job at NASA. She first learned to dive under the sea, studying emperor penguins. She then studied bar-headed geese, and continued to work towards achieving her space dreams. After years of failed attempts, Jessica found her way to the International Space Station. She, along with Christina Koch, made history by being part of the first all-woman spacewalk. While her journey was not always easy, Space Girl found her way! 🚀

What an inspiring story to share with young readers! We loved how this book proved that perseverance can take you to new heights. 🌟
