After many years of commitment and dedication, I’ve let go of what had become (but was never intended to be) a great heaviness.

I’m feeling light, free, and enjoying the release. by @mcsedone

It all started when @jonny_lespecial invited me up to freestyle during his set at @stowecider last year. He asked me whether I wanted a light beat or a dark one; I said it was up to him. He played the light one.

A warm and inviting beat I later learned was inspired by Claude Debussy, a pioneering French composer widely regarded as the first musical impressionist.

A few days later, inspired by the interaction and a few of the more powerful lines that emerged during the session, I asked Jonny to send me the beat and wrote a proper verse, built on that original moment.

The song was powerful, but the beat beneath it didn’t quite capture the dreadful situation facing not just our country, but humanity as a whole, in this critical moment. So I asked Jonny to send me the dark one. He did.

The result is ICE DESTROYER — @jonny_lespecial ( @lespecialmusic ) featuring @mcsedone (Boomslang/ @selectsoundsystem )

An anti-ICE anthem and unapologetic verbal dismantling of the immigration enforcement and for-profit prison industry.

Artwork by @ricojamesvt - Mixed & mastered in the SkyLab by @skysplitter_z

The track is streaming everywhere. Let’s run it up. Feel free to share it widely.
