Well, guess what? My picture in this year's annual Springfield Mayor's Art Show, "What It Takes From You", has a blue ribbon hanging next to it. Yep, this means it won FIRST PLACE in the Pastel, Colored Pencil, and Color Prints Category! Was I ever surprised!

And CONGRATULATIONS as well to all of the award-winners in this year's show! It will be up for the entire month of October at the Emerald Art Center here in Springfield, Oregon. by @mctartworks

Here is my newest finished picture, "What It Takes From You", an 8" x 10" oil pastel. It's also my entry in this year's annual Springfield Mayor's Art Show at the Emerald Art Center here in Springfield, Oregon. It will be up from September 29 through October 31. I wish the best to all my fellow artists.

When I picked up my picture from the Lane County Fairgrounds (the Lane County Fair concluded this past Sunday--I hope all who went or otherwise participated had a great time) yesterday, I was very pleasantly surprised to see this blue ribbon hanging from my picture frame! Yep, "Pink Moon" won FIRST PLACE in the Pastel, Advanced Or Professional Category! Whoo-hoo!

Thanks to the people who judged my work as being worthy of this honor. by @mctartworks

These are my two pictures which are or will shortly be on display at two local venues/events. The first one, "Pink Moon", will be part of the art exhibit at this year's Lane County Fair in Eugene, Oregon from July 22-26 in the Pastels, Advanced Or Professional Division.

The second, "Toward Other Shores", was accepted to be part of this year's Emerald Art Center Member's Exhibit at the Eugene Airport, I am happy to be able to say. It will be up for two months. by @mctartworks

Here, at last, is my newest finished piece (it's a long story--basically involving not having a working computer for a few months), "Distant Treelines, June Evening". This is a 7" x 5" oil pastel.

When I arrived at the Emerald Art Center today to volunteer, I was shocked to be informed that my entry in this past month's exhibition, "Envelopment", along with my poem accompanying it, was featured in this month's EAC Newsletter! Wow, thanks, especially to our Director, Melissa Green! What an honor!

And I am pleased to announce that "Envelopment", both picture and poem, will be part of this upcoming month's "PoArtry in Motion" show, as a celebration of National Poetry Month, which is in April, at the Emerald Art Center in downtown Springfield, Oregon. by @mctartworks

What you are looking at is "Eucalyptus Poetry", an approximately 9" x 12" oil pastel which dates back to about 2012-13, back when I reside in Los Angeles. This will be my entry in this coming month's Themed Exhibition (our theme this month being "Poetry") at the Emerald Art Center in downtown Springfield, Oregon.

And here is my entry into this year's autumnal Zone-For-All show at the New Zone Gallery in Eugene: "Beyond The Sea", an 8" x 10" oil pastel which I actually did a little over two years ago, but I recently touched it up a bit and (hopefully) improved it. It will be showing for the month of October.

This is my entry into the Pastel category (sorry about the slight warp in the photo; the picture itself is straight in its frame!) of this year's Mayor's Art Show at the Emerald Art Center in Springfield, Oregon. It's called "Pacific Symphony" and it's an 8" x 10" oil pastel. I wish the best to all participants in this year's show, which will be up for the month of October.
