Massive congratulations to @mctsingh Tony Singh, who has been announced as Grand Marshal of the 2027 Edinburgh Tartan Parade!

A second-generation Scottish Sikh, Michelin-recognized restaurateur, broadcaster, Master Chef of Great Britain, and former Scottish Chef of the Year, Tony has long made so many of us proud.

And I especially love this because Tony hails from Leith.

Leith holds such a special place in my heart. When I lived in Edinburgh in 2001 and worked at National Museums Scotland, it became a community where I felt deeply welcomed and a part of. One of Scotland’s most distinct and historic communities, it is also home to a multigenerational Sikh community that even has its own tartan. Both the Sikh and Singh tartans are two I proudly wear to this day.

Tony has achieved so much, while also giving back to so many, supporting causes around cancer research, dementia, the Scottish Blood Transfusion Service, WaterAid, St Columba’s Hospice, and many more, as well as celebrating the everyday people who make Scotland what it is. All while bringing contemporary Scottish cuisine to the world and enticing food lovers from around the globe to come and experience Scotland.

Such a beautiful and fitting honor for a beloved and incredible human and for a Scottish Sikh son of Leith to be leading Edinburgh’s Tartan Parade.

I might just have to make a wee trip back to Auld Reekie in 2027 to see him lead the parade. I have a feeling that with Tony Singh leading it, it’s going to be electric!

What a launch it was! ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 An evening of coming together, watching our 2026 Parade film, announcing the fabulous @mctsingh Tony Singh MBE as our 2027 Grand Marshal, sharing ideas, chatting and looking ahead to everything still to come!

There was so much support and enthusiasm in the room.. but most of all, pure joy in celebrating the spirit of the Edinburgh Tartan Parade and everything it represents - community, culture, heritage, connection… and the list goes on! ❤️

The energy was amazing, the company was brilliant, and we couldn’t have wished for a better way to continue our journey towards 2027. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the evening so special! ✨

On the very day registration opened for the 2027 Edinburgh Tartan Parade, the @lordprovostedinburgh, Robert Aldridge, announced our fabulous Grand Marshal for 2027…🥁Tony Singh MBE @mctsingh! 🎉

Born and raised in Leith, Tony is a celebrated Scottish chef and television personality, known for his inventive fusion cooking, larger-than-life personality and charity work. We couldn’t imagine a more brilliant ambassador for Edinburgh and the spirit of our Parade!

Our heartfelt thanks to the Lord Provost for opening the launch so warmly and welcoming us to the magnificent City Chambers.

What a way to begin our journey towards 2027! ❤️

Stranraer, I’m on my way! 🚙🥳

Back at the Oyster Festival this weekend for three days of Loch Ryan’s finest 🦪🦪🦪

The whole weekend is going to be fullfullfull! Opening ceremony and fireworks Friday night, the Scottish Oyster Shucking Championships 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and the Oyster Eating Competition on Saturday, crackin cooking demos and live music, even a cheeky wee shuttle bus so there’s nae excuse not to come!

You can catch me with the fabulous @rosemary.shrager Friday night, on Saturday morning for some Breakfast Banter, a wee cookery demo straight after lunch and then on stage with the also fab @matt.tebbutt 😎

11–13 September, Stranraer.
